Question about Sharp R-308H Microwave Oven

Sharp R-305KS door release problem

From moment of receipt, the door release push button did not have any resistance to release the door. Could the lever have been broken in shipment? Is this a replacement part? Where do you obtain the special hex type screwdriver head to remove the sheet metal housing?

Yes it is possible the door open lever got broken in shipping.

If your model has anti-tamper screws, you can remove them using using a T20H Torx type or GTXH20-100 screwdriver. If the correct tool is not available, there are several ways to remove the screws:

- Use a hammer and a small punch or similar tool to knock out the middle post of the screw, then use a standard T20 Torx bit to remove the screws. (Use safety glasses).

- Insert a small flat-bladed screwdriver (such as a jeweler’s type) into the slot between the post and the edge, tap the screwdriver firmly with a hammer to loosen the screw, grip the screwdriver with pliers, and remove the screw.

- Use a hacksaw or Dremel tool to cut a slot in the head of the screw, then use a flat-bladed screwdriver to remove the screws. (Use safety glasses).

Once the cover's off, you can see the door opening parts. It's probably the lever.

The best place to order Sharp parts is Tritronics.

Why will door not open

Hi,
This happens when the latch hook loosens up and moves so that the door will not open when you press the button.
It's a very easy fix, but should be done by a repair person so that the door can be adjusted propery and no microwaves escape.

Sharp Carousel Microwave door won't open, button broke

Take it to a Discount Appliance or Used Appliance store and have them repair it. There they will have the parts that are used and cheaper to repair than hiring an Appliance Service Technician.
Option 2
Take the microwave apart and go to www.searpartsdirect.com and type in your model number and find the broken part and part number. Then order the part through ApplianceZone.com or ApliancePartsPro.com. Later when parts arrive at your door... install theparts yourself and save money!

If your model number is in the Sharp R-1500 series, then that's a problem with the bottom door switch or its mount.

Unable to open the microwave door since this morning. the oven still works but its closed. when press at the bottom right side corner, the door supposed to be open.

More than likely, the little lever behind the button has broken. You may notice there is less resistance when pushing the button, but perhaps not if your model has a spring behind the button as well. If your handy, you could remove the front panel and take a look at it, but if you dont feel comfortable doing this, it may be equally as expensive to repair this as it would be to buy a brand new one. I'm assuming its out of warranty at this point, but if not, send it back!
