SOURCE: Kenmore gas Range -- Control Panel not working

Hi. your assessment is correct. when you have normal operations with the stove top and the control panel is blank or non operational, this will confirm either a wiring harness issue or a dead control circuit board. The wiring harness can sometimes become lose or the connectors can become corroded but, in this issue, i am sure its the ECB(electroninc control board). In this case, you will have to replace the board it self.

Please rate and god bless:)

SOURCE: Front right burner on GE glass top range not working

If you have the glass cooktop slide-in model, the problem is most likely the burner "ribbon' under the glass top for the small burner has come loose. I fixed mine with only a phillips-head screwdriver, needle-nosed pliers, and a 1/4" wrench (1/4" socket on the end of a nutdriver works better). Here are the steps I took to fix it: 1) Slide the oven out from the counter so the sides of the oven are clear of the counter top. 2) Remove the phillips head screws-1 on each side of the oven near the top/rear. These will be the only phillips-head screws you will need to remove. 3) Open the oven door and remove the 4 hex-head screws at the top/front/inside the oven- there are 2 on each side which follow the opening of the door. Then close the door. 4) Pull off the burner knobs by gripping them and pulling straight up. Don't worry, you will not break them but you will need to give them a good tug. 5) Remove the burner retaining nuts that are under the knobs-you may need a wrench to loosen them but only tighten them by hand when reinstalling. 6) Pull the face of the control panel away from the oven slowly until you see a ribbon connector on the right side and then disconnect the ribbon and remove the face plate from the oven. 7) Remove the 4 hex-head screws from the face plate bracket (the plastic part that was holding the face plate) and pull the bracket toward the front of the oven until it flops over and rests on the oven door handle. 8) remove the 2 black screws holding down the glass top-one on each side of the oven-the screw heads face the front of the oven. 9) Disconnect the two wiring harnesses attached to the cook top. Don't worry, they only fit one way so you don't need to label them. 10) Lift the cook top until the wiring harnesses are clear of the holes and place it upside down on a flat surrface. 11) Remove the two retaining bracket screws and brackets from each side of the non-working burner. 12) Slowly lift the burner and flip it upwards until you see the ribbon coils. It should not be necessary to disconnect any wires. 13) Look at the ribbon coils very carefully to see if any of them are disconnected from their main connection points. If so, feed the ribbon back inside the pinch point (you may need a small screwdriver to open the pinch point first) and then use a pair of needle-nosed pliers to pinch the ribbon to hold it in place. I had to use a voltage meter set in the OHM position to find where mine were disconnected. Once you pinch the ribbon end back into place, put everything back together in reverse order. If your burner still does not work, your burner knob switch may be bad. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

The F30 error code indicates that the electronic oven control board detects an "open" oven temperature sensor probe circuit.
This is usually caused by a failed oven temperature sensor probe.

Replacing this component will likely fix your problem.

You can order this part from www.searspartsdirect.com website.

If you replace this part yourself, be sure that you unplug the range to disconnect electrical power before accessing this component.

On some models, you can replace the probe by removing the screws that mount this component to the inside back wall of the oven.
Carefully pull the probe inside the oven cavity until you encounter the wire harness disconnect plug.
Unplug the sensor and replace it with the new one. Mount the new probe on the back wall of the oven.

On some models, you have to remove the lower back oven panel to access the sensor probe.

If you replace the probe and still have this problem, you will need to unplug the range and measure the resistance through the violet wires that plug into the control board (this is where the sensor probe circuit is connected to the control board).
If the resistance through the oven temperature sensor probe circuit is normal (about 1100 ohms at room temperature) then the electronic oven control board will need to be replaced.

I have a Frigidaire Caprice double oven, 45 years old, the inner glass panel on the top oven door has shattered. I am not having any luck with finding replacement glass, any ideas?

take a profile of the glass shape (cut out the shape from cardboard) and go to a glass supply shop ( glass windows , doors , shower screens etc)
they should be able to cut and then temper the glass to make it heat proof for the door
if they cannot temper it they should be able to tell you where you can get it done

How can oven door glass be cleaned?

The window is comprised of two pieces of tempered glass with a metal band seal around the outside. Because the metal and the glass have different rates of heat expansion, material expelled by baking items finds its way past the seal and in between the two pieces of glass. As a practical matter, it is better to live with the dirty window than to risk destroying the oven door to remove and clean it. Besides, if you were able to remove the window assembly how would you remove the metal seal, separate and clean both pieces of glass, and reassemble?

Broke the glass front to my Dacor CPO230B wall oven. the manufacturer no longer makes the part. What would the solution be to this problem.

If you dig deep enough on Google, you'll find someone who has the part. As with all manufacturers, none of them make the entire product. Bic makes pens for "off brands", Staples products come from a myriad of manufacturers, Kirkland, the house brand for Costco, all come from various sources. Hopefully, the part that's ordered will fit. We've also located the entire door. So just in case the front glass is not available, the door is, and that's an expensive alternative. I've also considered going to a glass company to have a piece of tempered black glass cut to size. My entire dilemma stemmed from changing the interior bulb in the bottom oven, when putting the door back on, it slipped in my hands and the rest is now history.

How do you remove the door on a 4080 bm?

There are two metal clips at the bottom of the glass that hold the bottom of the glass in place- you can see these from the inside when the door is open and from the outside at the bottom of the door when the door is closed. There are two metal clips at the inside top of the door. You can see these when the door is open slightly inward from the "switch pins on each side.
Open the door. You will see 2 small (about 1/16") metal pieces about 1/2 " in from the 2 switch pins. CAUTION: WITH SOMEONE ELSE HOLDING THEIR HAND UNDER THE GLASS PANEL. Press the 2 metal pins in. Then slowly pull down on handle until the metal parts move down past the tiny opening on the black inner door. This glass is tempered and I can tell you from experience it will break in a million pieces if you are not careful tohold the glass.

It's delicate but very easy. Just be careful

Securty door top glass broke

Your problem shows a stove, but I am guessing that you are talking about a door to your home. Use the Yellow Pages directory in your phone book (online FixYa does not provide local physical assistance) and look up GLASS companies in your local area. Call and get a quote for someone to come out and install a new glass pane in your door. If it is a security door, it will probably be TEMPERED glass. Hope this helps. If so, please rate me as helpful.

Smeg se336ss 5 some so and so has broken the outer glass door!

We removed the front glass of our oven door after a big spill between the two glass sections (by blunt force!). Since it took us 4 hours to put back together, we wanted to spread the info in case any others have the misfortune to make this mistake! Note, I wouldn't do this unless you have to, just incase you can't get your door back together again.

Assuming the back sheet of oven glass is still in position, but the front sheet is not attached -

1. Follow the manual instructions to remove the door, ensuring that both hinges are locked fully (otherwise you won't be able to get the door back on easily)

2. Once the door is removed, ensure that the plastic spacers that hold the two sheets of glass apart are in original position, resting on the inner door, at the bottom corners of the tempered glass

3. Remove the narrow metal strip at the bottom of the inner door by unscrewing the 3 screws that hold it in place. This is the metal groove that the outer pane of glass needs to rest in

4. Lay the outer sheet of glass in position in this metal strip

5. Lay the outer sheet of glass over the inner door. Slot the outer sheet into position at the top of the inner door first, ensuring it is layed flush at the top.

6. A second person needs to ease the metal strip back into place at the bottom of the inner door, so that the two sheets of glass are now held together at both top and bottom.

7. Screw the metal strip back into position with the 3 screws

8. Follow the manual instructions to replace the door. Ensure that the small grooves at the bottom of both hinges are resting in position correctly, otherwise the door will not close flushly.

Door Face needed (Glass broke, model discontinued, can't get part)

Linda, if you can't find a replacement door at local used appliance repair shops - check the Yellow Pages - look to see how the door comes apart.  It is probably held together with 6 or 8 Philips screws.  Get the door apart and take out the broken glass.  Call around to see if an appliance repair store has an oven they are discarding that has the same size glass or larger.  If the glass is too big, phone a few glass shops to see if they can 'cut' it down for you.  Some tempered glasses can be cut and sanded down to the precise size you need. Take your old broken glass to the shop to be used as a template. You should be able to get away with this type of repair for $50 if you compare prices. Cheers, Pavel
