    Laptop
originally hung and I couldn't get it to work. On using recovery disk
    supplied:  Windows loads form the
Recovery Disk; The 'Recovery Utility Screen' appears with prompt to select
    language, followed by the usual
WARNING that ..hard disk will be completely erased. OK launches DiskPart
which sucessfully formatted the volume' - sll so far good.

    This
is folowed by 'ImageX Tool for Windows' and where things start to go wrong:
    Atter Copyright message:

    "Progress:
    0%

    [Warning]
    . [Read_WIM_header: -> cannot read WIM header]

    [Error:
    23] E:\05241XSP4.swm. [_wim_create_file: -> Fail to read WIM
    header]"

    the
programme then appears to continue as follows:

    "Progress:
(and counts 0% to 100% over about 10 minutes) 100%

    [Error:
    1812] C:\Windows\Fonts\mingliub.ttc

    Error
    Restoring image

    The
specified image file did not contain a resource section.

    ERROR:
ImageX could not apply VISTA E:\05241XPS.swm Index 2 from ODD to c:\!

    Press
    any key to continue"

I have replaced the hard drive as suggested on
one of the Toshiba Forums bur the above occurs exactly the same with a brand
    new drive.

It’s a Toshiba supplied VISTA Recovery disk that was shipped with the laptop and the machine has a COA key sticker on the underside

I have been advised by PC World to carry out a recovery on my toshiba A210 laptop purchased Dec 2007 due to serious problems with it. I have inserted the supplied recovery disk and it has gone through a number of steps but after progress of around 40% under a heading "Imagex Tool for Windows", the process aborts and gives me the following messages:

    Error restoring image

The system cannot find the path specified

ERROR: ImageX could not apply VISAT F:\05249XSP.swm Index 2 from ODD to C:\!

then if the two hard drives are in same condition, then it is either the recovery disk, or something in the bios or memory. how old is this computer?

SOURCE: error code 10-fc06-002 in toshiba

This is a toshiba error when running recovery discs on your machine. There are two reasons that this could occur, one would be corrupted Recovery Discs and the other is bad hardware (Hard Disk Drive).

While running a full system recovery from the Recovery Media, the installation may fail -- and display one of the error messages listed below. Possible causes of these error conditions are listed at right. Use this list as a troubleshooting guide -- not as an absolute list of causes, as there may be others.
"An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC10-1710" -- may be caused by a faulty hard drive.
"An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC12-0241" -- may be caused by a faulty hard drive or defective memory.
"An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC12-045D" -- may be caused by a faulty hard drive.
"An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC06-0002" -- may be caused by damaged recovery media or faulty hard drive.
"An error has occurred. ERROR :10-FC12-0970" -- may be caused by defective memory.

SOURCE: Toshiba Satellite L305-S5875; Recovery Error 10-fc12-045d HELP!!

no it is not fried. you just need to find a vista disk and use that instead of the recovery disks. Once you reinstall Vista you should be able to go online for the Toshiba drivers. Make sure you have the windows Vista Key which should be located under the laptop. the vista software install will ask for it.

Toshiba won't sell you a Factory disk? ODD? If it's a HDD failure or a hardware failure, a Restore/Recovery will not help. If you have Restore turned on, restore to a date before this issue. If you have a Factory Recovery Partition, you can do a System Recovery, keep in mind ALL your data will be lost. You can find a Restore/Recovery procedure here: http://www.ehow.com/how_8012461_toshiba-p205-recovery.html

Try reseating the RAM modules and then try the recovery CD.
If it still fails, take the RAM modules out and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM.

Hello, I have a Toshiba laptop A200 - EZ2204X with a model number of PSAF4U now my problem exactly that i have got the recovery discs on a DVDs and after that I have lost them .... and now the windows...

Hello,

For recovery disks set, they are available only for purchase. You can buy the recovery disks for your laptop on http://recovery-disks.com/toshiba/toshiba-satellite-pro-a200-ez2204x.html.

What I can suggest if you don't want to pay for these disks is to format and install Windows and then you can install free software like Driver detective to know what drivers you will need. Once you have the list of drivers, you can download them from websites like driverguide.com.

Note that formatting your laptop will result in losing everything you have on it.

Hope this helps.

Your original hard disk may have a recovery partition on it. You may be able to restore the Toshiba to Out of the Box condition, but it will wipe out your data so bach up your data first. For instruction to restore your Toshiba, click on this link and follow my instructions :-

If you have a backup, you can do that, off your hard drive. Otherwise, you will need to get a replacement disk from Toshiba.

If you have the recovery CD, then put that in the drive, reboot the laptop and make sure you boot to the CD. The recovery process will start up and you can restore the laptop to it's factory settings. Make sure you have all of your documents, music, etc. backed up.
