Question about Electric Kettles
Need a power cord for a Betty Crocker model BC1710C electric kettle
di you try calling GE @ 1800-ge-cares ? dont except much but my parts book only says :PRIVATE BRAND GE , MADE IN CHINA , NO PARTS ORDERED , NO PARTS , 0 IN STOCK ...........

hi i hope i can help you with this? you dont have a short in the chord as this would be a fire danger. may i please ask if you have a multimeter. check the fuse if ok check for a breakage in the mains cable ie conniunity if ok open up and check to make sure there is power going in? if ok? please check the switch if power is going into the switch put the probes to the other side of the switch if no reading the problem is likely to be the switch. i hope this will help you?

SOURCE: Power cord overheats
The thermostat is not shutting the unit down and cycling it on/off as it should. This will cause the power cord to overheat and it will catch fire. STOP using this unit and either replace it or have it repaired. More than likely cheaper to just replace it.
