Zoom H2 static noise

I have had my zoom for a few months and in the past few days i've noticed a static sounding interference in my recordings.  I don't hear this noise through the headphones, only on playback and the noise is transferred to my computer when I export it. Help!!

New noise

sounds like a ground issue to me. that sounds like either 60 cycle hum, or a loose or broken ground. You can probably do an ohmmeter check, first, with no power, and see if you have continuity. That's not unusual for mikes of the seniority of your equipment.

Mic sound muffled static

Buy a better mic! This question reminds me of the musicians who invest in a nice JBL public address system but then use Radio Shack microphones. A good quality mic, not GREAT but just good will cost you a minimum of $100. Quit playing with toys and invest in real recording gear. Computers and hard drive recorders can easily record CD quality audio, and-so why would you use a $70 mic?

Static Noise

Is it a hissing noise or a distorted crackling noise? If it's a hissing noise then it's due to a bug in Windows that adds 30 dB of gain. It's easy to work around, though: Go into Recording devices, Properties button, Levels tab, right click on the level number so that it shows in decibels, and then adjust the level to 0 dB. It's supposed to be at 0 dB but Windows 7 defaults it to 30 dB for no reason. This isn't a problem on Windows XP or OS X.

I have a mxl 990 microphone and its hooked up to a Pro tools LE 8 Mbox Mini . when im recording on protools or any other software with this mic, i hear a static/popping sound and it records the popping...

Try increasing the latency. Depending on your computer, it may not be able to handle low latency levels. Latency is a measure of the delay between the time you make a sound and the time the computer records that sound. With the Mbox mini, the unit for latency is the number of samples the driver collects before sending them to an application as input. Lower latency can make recording easier and more accurate, but not all computer systems can operate at the lowest latencies without introducing noise. Open the Mbox mini dialog and select the latency tab. experiment with higher latency levels and see if it goes away. somervta_0.jpgThis is what the dialogue might look like. another solution would be to try a different DAW. I had the same problem with my Fast Track Pro in ProToolsand it worked fin on Reaper, Garageband and Logic.

Recording quality just went downhill fast.

Make sure your computer audio is NOT set to "echo" as this will loop the audio back out. This setting can sometimes get set by whatever... it happens.

Many Problems with Samson G-Track or not?

Hi.  I dunno if yur using pc or mac but with a mac yu need to adjust the mic settings on the comp. For the static its probably your set up or as i said in another guys problem, the usb cable given with it is **** so try using another one from a printer or wtv to see if that makes a difference for you. Also if you are recording just through the mic i find that it seems to only work well when the input is on line and not inst/mic. Hope this can be of some help. Its a great piece of kit once you get it working well.. Goodluck

SE2200A "wind" noises during recording

Its very descriptive and is quite a common problem with less expensive condenser mics. It's due to dirt or contamination on the capsule insulator or front end circuitry of the electronics. SE should be able to fix it for not much money.
