Control Panel turns off

The problem started when the motor would not start, we would just get a humming sound.. We opened the unit and checked the motor. When we wired it direct, it ran fine. We cleaned the unit and put it back together. Now, after pushing the power button, the control panel lights up. When we push start button, it does not start and control panel turns off. If we push power button again, it lights up and then goes out. After unpluging and repluging unit, when Power button is pushed, the control panel stays lite, but when start is pushed, it goes out again. Model DCVH515EF0WW

I have a GE DCV515EF0WW front-load dryer. When the dryer is on there is a scratching noise that seems to come from the front edge of the drum. The unit just started doing this. I checked around the drum for debris. I found some lint and cleaned it as best asI could. Any suggestions. The unit is heating properly or so it seems. Thanks in advance.

The PCB unit ie the control panel circuit board has gone bad. The probable cause of the same is moisture on the board.

I have a GE DPSR610EG5WTI dryer. Worked fine. Finished a load and then on the next load it would not start at all. I push the start button and all I get is a humming sound until I let it go. No motion or...

If you hear the motor humming and not starting at all it most likely has a severe friction problem with the drum or motor. It could possibly have some type of garment jamming the blower wheel preventing the motor from starting too.

Open the dryer door and manually rotate the dryer drum counter clockwise (CCW). It should take very little effort to rotate the drum. If it's hard to rotate that could explain why the motor hums instead of starting up. If it turns freely, shut the door and see if will start. If it still hums and not start it may have bad motor or a low voltage supply to the motor.

Dryer makes loud humming noise but drum doesn't turn when I push start.

Check to see if the drum will turn by hand. If so, leave the door open but push the light switch button down and start the unit. Once you hear the humming sound, manually turn the drum with your hand to start. If the drum turns normally, you have a bad motor and needs to be replaced. If the drum does not turn, something is jamming the motor and needs to be disassembled and inspected.
Good luck

Turn on it only hums

most likely a bad motor or something stopping the motor like a missing sock or cloth jammed into blower door and spin tub while holding in door switch. a second person may be needed to turn on dryer at panel. if tub starts while turning tub by hand. you'll need a new motor. if still does not start..check for obstruction, bad motor

Humming, but no spinning

It could be the capacitor which kick starts the motor.

they are relatively cheap to replace.

Dryer won't start it only hums

If the Hum is coming form the control panel, replace the timer module.''Now, if the Hum is coming form the motor or, mid section of the unit, this will confirm motor failure.

My Matag dryer does not run, but for a while it hummed before starting.

Motors of this sort have a "start" winding, to give them an extra boost to get them turning. Once they're turning, the start winding shuts off. Critical to this is the start capacitor which, when shorted, causes the exact symptom you've described. The motor's "regular" winding gets power (and then hums), but it needs that extra boost to actually start turning. Have someone check the capacitor (with an ohmeter) or check to see if the motor's start winding is open (broken).
