Question about GE DCVH515EFWW Electric Dryer
The problem started when the motor would not start, we would just get a humming sound.. We opened the unit and checked the motor. When we wired it direct, it ran fine. We cleaned the unit and put it back together. Now, after pushing the power button, the control panel lights up. When we push start button, it does not start and control panel turns off. If we push power button again, it lights up and then goes out. After unpluging and repluging unit, when Power button is pushed, the control panel stays lite, but when start is pushed, it goes out again. Model DCVH515EF0WW
I have a GE DCV515EF0WW front-load dryer. When the dryer is on there is a scratching noise that seems to come from the front edge of the drum. The unit just started doing this. I checked around the drum for debris. I found some lint and cleaned it as best asI could. Any suggestions. The unit is heating properly or so it seems. Thanks in advance.

The PCB unit ie the control panel circuit board has gone bad. The probable cause of the same is moisture on the board.

Tips for a great answer:
If you hear the motor humming and not starting at all it most likely has a severe friction problem with the drum or motor. It could possibly have some type of garment jamming the blower wheel preventing the motor from starting too.
Open the dryer door and manually rotate the dryer drum counter clockwise (CCW). It should take very little effort to rotate the drum. If it's hard to rotate that could explain why the motor hums instead of starting up. If it turns freely, shut the door and see if will start. If it still hums and not start it may have bad motor or a low voltage supply to the motor.

Welcome to FixYa
is that the control detects that the motor is not running and so drains water
directly after filling it. If you hear a hum sound from the bottom panel then
it is the motor that is bad, if you don't hear any sound and still the unit
performs same way then first thing to check is the motor, and then check the
control as even a bad relay in control can cause this issue. Please get back to
me if you have any other questions.
