Question about Tomtom GO 300 GPS Receiver

No power!! this tomtom is not showing the charging light not starting upNO power black screen NOTHING i called the store and it no longer under warrenty soo...im screwed pretty much!! any suggestions.i already tried the whole uhmm restart take out the card thing and so far NO LUCK!! somebody?

Your battery may be completely dead and if that is the case then you will have to buy another one. You can't charge a completely dead battery.

My tomtom to go will not turn on. the green light is on when charging but nothing shows on the screen. i dont know what to do?


If you have an SD card in try removing that before you power up.

You may also want to try the hard reset.
Paper clip in the tiny hole by the card slot.

Push it in firmly whilst the unit is powered up (not too hard) for about 3 seconds then release
You may have to power down and then up again and even hold down the power button a little longer the first time you do this.

Tomtom Rider GPS won't turn on


My Rider 1 is showing the same sympton. Was working fine now I can't get past the initial "Tomtom" screen.

Does it power up when connected to the mains charger?- No, need to prod reset and then turn on manually.
Does it switch on when connected to the bike cradle? - No, only sign of life if by manually turning on but only get as far as the Tomtom screen, not the main menu.

Any ideas welcome

Tomtom 510 doesn't reset


Before you keep resetting your tomtom I would intall a new battery. Call your closest "batteries plus store" or "radioshack store" and then try to reset it, it might be only the battery and nothing to do with the reseting.....

Tomtom Go 920 failure


The power light only shows that power is getting to the TomTom. It proves nothing else and doesn't even confirm that the internal battery is charging. If you have tried a reset ( by inserting a paper clip into the reset hole at base of your TomTom and that hasn't worked then it's likely you have blown internal components . Usually caused by faulty charger. I hope the reset works ... good luck

Tomtom won't turn on


  1. Fully charge the unit
  2. Reset with paperclip at bottom of unit
  3. Hold down Power On for a longer period of time, about 10 sec.

Will not charge


I have a similar problem and I think I solved it (orr found a way to work around it). It looks like the contacts are not connecting firmly so even though the green light may be on, the charging conneciton is not made. With the tomtom on your home dock from the front page on your tomtom, touch near the lower right of the screen on the satellite strength indicator, this should bring up a screen where it shows (among other things) your batter status at the top right. If it is charging, the word charging will be under the battery strength indicator. Just play with it until you get the word "charging" to appear under the picture of the battery.then HANDS OFF until it is charged. I doubt this will be successful with the car charger since the movement of the car will likely jar the connection loose. Good luck.

Charging but nothing on screen


A good place to start is a reset. -Make sure the battery is charged completely (charge for two hours to be sure) -remove the SD card, if you use one -hold down the reset button with a pen for at least 15 seconds -release the reset button and hold down the on/off button for at least 5 seconds. -replace the SD card If that doesnt work: Make sure you have the latest software for the device by using TomTom Home. Sometimes just updating the software will kick it into gear, so to speak. And lastly, if it is just dead, contact TomTom customer care and they will repair or replace it for you.
