Sounds like your motor coupler has failed, remove the 2 screws on the top head panel one on each side, flip up the console and you will see 2 spring clips, remove them ,unplug the lip switch jack, open the lid and pull the case forward and your in,the coupler is behind the motor, remove water pump clips and motor clips, you can get the coupler from your local appliance parts store for $5,let me know how you do-mike

If the washer is making a loud noise the rear drum with bearing might need to be replace. On this washer the bearing is not sold separately, the entire rear drum will have to be replaced. This is a very involved repair and will require disassembling most of the washer. However, the problem is going to get worse very quickly and so either the drum and bearing will need to be replaced or the washing machine.

Bearing

If the washer is making a loud noise the bearing might be worn out. As bearings wear out from friction they gradually get worse and worse until they fail. In the meantime they get louder. If the noise primarily happens during the spin cycle the bearing is likely the problem.

If the washer is making a loud noise in the spin cycle, the clutch assembly might be worn out. The clutch assembly makes the connection between the transmission and the inner tub. The clutch is not repairable, if it is loud or not working properly it will need to be replaced.

My MAV8600AWW top load washer makes a loud steady squeal whining noise in spin cycle. Load size doesn't affect noise. Machine is 7 years old. Any guess as to problem?

High pitched buzz/whine during wash cycle only, spin fine

1) Make sure valve is open all the way 2) some machines have a screen inside of the hose hook up which could be clogged. 3) last check to see if it is the hot or cold by switch your selector switch on your machine to hot then cold. If one of these positions eliminate the noise then the valve in the machine is bad.
