I have a comdial phone. Line two has "no loop current" message when pushing button to dial. How do I get that off and the line back to receiving a dial tone?

On my Comdial Edge 120 phone system, I get "No Loop Current" when I pick up line 2. You also get a lot of feedback when you pick up the line.

Find loop current? It means that you don't have dial tone on line 2 or it would give you loop current unless it's ground start, but that's another thread.

Dial the number associated with that line and it probably won't ring in either. It's either a wiring or telco problem.

SOURCE: no dial tone and "line in use " message

Try the simple things first. Try a different phone. In my case, I had the phone company check - outside was fine. After two hours my phone worked. I figured out what happened in my case. Both phones were dead (battery). I think one died with the phone off the hook. once the phones were fully charged, the phone worked.

SOURCE: My phone says check Tel Line

Sounds like your telephone line might be dead. If you have a gray or tan telephone box on the outside of your house you can plug your phone in there to test the line. If you get dialtone then thrers a problem in your house wiring, if you don't get dial tone then the line is dead and you need to conact your telco provider.

How do I stop the red message light from blinking after I have received my messages

~*~*~ SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED! ~*~*~ After talking to both ATT and RCA with no success...I figured it out. ~*~*~ Plug your phone line into the "DATA PORT" on the back of the unit. Slide the "DATA PORT" switch to whichever line is showing it has a message. Press the corresponding Line# button on the front of the phone. (you should hear the dial tone) Dial your voice mail number. Let it answer, (enter your passcode if needed), then hang up! - That's it! example: MSG Waiting:L2 - I plugged the phone line into the Data Port and moved the data port switch to "2". I pressed LINE 2 on the front of the phone, dialed my voice mail number, it answered, I put in my passcode. (It said that I did not have any new voice mails), then hung up! That's it! Message Indicator light off!!! Repeat for each line that shows a (false) message waiting. ~~~Don't forget to move your phone line back into it's correct port on the back of your phone.~~~

Let me think. On the face of the cabinet, there are 10 or so modular jacks, one for every 2 lines and one for the 8 stations. If you plug the lines into a regular (not Comdial) phone, do you still get a dial tone?
You would get lines 1 and 3, as line 2 would be the second pair of the first jack.

If the box still lights up, I'm guessing that whatever fed dial tone into those lines got disconnected. Is this the part where you tell us you went to VoIP or cable dial tone and they disconnected the local phone company interface?

Need to know how to change time on Comdial GCA70-281

  1. Programming the time and date for a Comdial Impact digital phone system must be done from the attendant's station, usually the phone located closest to the Comdial controller. Go to this station before attempting to change the time.

  3. Step 3 Set the year by dialing two digits (00-99)
  4. Step 4 Set the month by dialing two digits (01-12)
  5. Step 5 Set the day by dialing two digits (01-31)
  6. Step 6 Set the hour by dialing two digits (01-23)
  7. Step 7 Set the minutes by dialing two digits (00-59)
  8. Step 8 set-clock2_thumb.jpg Comdial Impact phone with updated day and time. Pick up the handset and set it back down to set the programming changes. The new date and time should display immediately on all phones connected to the Comdial system

Can not hear the telephone ring on one of the main phones upstair

You will need to know which line(s), and on which station(s) (extensions) you want each line to ring.

Programming is accomplished as follows:

Default Installer Password = INTERCOM *746
You can enable different ringing assignments for individual lines and stations.
You must program ringing assignments on a per station/per line basis. You can control ringing for every line that has appearance at a station assigning immediate, or direct, ringing to some lines and delayed ringing to others. NOTE: Do not program direct ringing for lines that you assign to the direct department calling feature.
To Program: 1. Dial 54. “STA/LINE CONFIG.”
2. Dial 1 “DIRECT RING”
—OR—
Dial 2. “DELAY RING”
NOTE: For no station ringing, skip step 3 and make no line selection.
3. Select line ports for ringing (LED On = Selected Ports).
—Line port 1–14 = Dial 01–14 or press A1–A14
—Line port 15, 16 = Dial 15, 16 or press B1, B2
—Line port 17–24 = Dial 17–24 or press HOLD then press A1–A8.
4. Dial # when all line ports are selected.
5. Select station ports (LED On = Feature Assigned)
—Station 10–57: Dial 10–57 or press C10–C57.
6. Dial * when all station ports are selected
—OR—
dial ** for next station/line ringing assignment
—OR—
dial ***for configuration mode.
To clear current setting, repeat procedure.

Use an LCD speakerphone and a DSS/BLF console at station port 11 or 13 to see which features are assigned to individual stations. While you can install any non-LCD digital telephone and use it for programming, visual feedback of the programming operations will not be available. You must always keep the handset of the LCD speakerphone on-hook while you use this telephone to program the system.

Can't get the mesage light to stop blinking

You forgot to supply a model number, but is this a cordless with an answering machine or did the message light blink when you had messages from the phone company provided voice mail?

If it's the former, pressing the play button and/or holding down the ERASE button will make the messages disappear.

If it's the latter, here's where the fun begins. Message lamps are lit from a signal generated from the phone line. Stutter dial tone is usually the cause, and it could be just because you have a feature enabled. I think the cadence of the call forwarding dial tone is enough to set off MW, but I'm not there to hear it :-)

Try unplugging the phone completely, then plug it in without the outside line. I'm guessing the display will tell you there's no outside line, but what does the message waiting light do? Then plug in the line and see if it lights immediately or after some delay. It may test the line as soon as you plug it into the wall and be hearing the funny dial tone.

Comment back after you've done this.

AT&T Spirit Phone

You’ll need either a 6-button or a 24-button set SPIRIT CS administration.

First the control unit ADMIN switch must be ON, the administration overlay must be in place on station 10, and the set must be plugged into control unit jack 10 (call processing is interrupted only at station 10).

After moving the admin switch, and before dialing Ftr 7 -
From station 10 press intercom, Press speaker, Dial *0, Dial 1, Then Press Ftr 7.

Each line indicator light will show the current dialing type for that line. If the light is OFF, that line is set for touch tone dialing. If the light is ON, the line is set for dial pulse
dialing.

To change the dialing type for a line or lines, press the line button(s) and dial the appropriate digit from the table below. You may press more than one line button to make the change on more than one line. If you enter a digit without first pressing a line button you will hear the error tone.

Be sure to turn the admin switch back off when you’re finished.

How to establish extensions?

The extensions start at 10 , and if you press the speaker button and hold it for a second or two it will show the extension number in the LCD display . If you do not have any phones with a display you have to find it by pressing the intercom button and try dialing the extensions one by one .
