Question about Brother MFC 8500 All-In-One Laser Printer
Our fax machine which is a brother mfc-8500. makes clicking noises when it receives a sheet of paper. Whether it is a fax or a print. They all still come thru, and we don't seem to miss anything, it just clicks really loadly. I assume it is a roller problem but can't seem to find anything that looks like it is sticking out or not in the right place. Anyone know how to fix this?
If you open the cover and remove the toner/drum unit, you will see (on the left side as you remove) a small hole with two triangle teeth.
on either side of this hole are two small phillips head screws. this is the problem we had with our clicking noise. As the machine tries to turn the toner/drum, the innards of the toner are becoming harder to turn. So the part of the fax machine that fits in the hole end up stripping the teeth in that hole. If you have an old toner cartridge, you can remove the gearing from it (where the small phillips head screws are) and use it to replace the gearing on the newer cartridge. Or go buy a new toner cartridge.
