Question about HP LaserJet 2200D Printer

Network or Share HP LaserJet 2200D Printer

Hello!
I have an HP Printer which is usb connected to our office network via Windows Server 2003, so everyone sees it to print. However half our dept has moved and would like to move the printer as well. I moved the printer and hooked it up to one of the client machines and set it up for sharing. However when I tried to find it on someone else's machine, it wouldn't show up and the browser keeps defaulting to our server network.  We do not have an IT inhouse and my work is primarily with Macs.
Is there anyway to easily set up the HP Laserjet 2200 so everyone else can see it on a different computer? Is assigning an ip address an option?
thank you for your info!

Thank you for the advice, I will try it. Just a quick question though, will the computers have to go through this connection each time the other person wants to print or will the connection automatically reopen when its time to print another document.

    thank you!

Try this:

1. Go to the computer where the printer is attached or connected. Go to Printer and Faxes under XP, right click on your printer icon, then click on share. On the same computer, click on Start then click on run. Type in cmd then click on OK. On the black window or command prompt, type in ipconfig then press enter. Take note of the IP address.

2. Go to a computer that you want to print on the printer. Click on start then click on run. type in \\IP address of the computer where the printer is attached. For example: On the run box type in \\192.168.1.2 the click on OK. You will see there a window and you can see there the printer that is attached to that computer. Just right click on it then click on Connect.

3. Try to print.

Hope it helps!

This would be the easiest way of sharing your printer on the network. However, I am not sure if it will stay connected to the printer.

If you want, you may just add a printer on the client computer under Printer and Faxes, then select network printer and browse the computer where the printer is connected then click on the printer then it may ask you to install the drivers for that printer. This procedure will definitely leave you connected to the printer since you already installed the drivers on that specific computer.

Hello , I need to know if hp-laserjet p2015 printer have a "built in" network card ? if not how can i share it between two computer by using a switch ?

HP Laser jet P2015n & P2015dn models having network facility, there is no option to add on network card for this series.
1. Install the printer locally through USB in one system and share it to others if its non "N" printer.
2. You can connect use network to USB convertor to print thorugh network. pl see the link for one of the sample product..

I have an hp 1320 laser jet printer but it cant be recognized by all the computers in my office. i have tried to change both usb and parallel cables but nothing is happening . what could be the problem?...

Have you connected it via Ethernet and installed the software on your office's server? If not then you will have to set it up as a USB or parallel on one pc and then all the other computers on the network will have to print to the IP address on the network of the PC it is connected to and then set up each machine to access that printer.

How to add NIC in HP color laserjet CP1215 Printer?

If this model HP does not have an expansion slot for a HP Jetdirect Print server, then to use this printer on your network you have two options.
1. Connect the printer to a desktop computer on your network and set it uo as a shared printer. This means this computer and printer needs to be powered up for the other computer on your network to print to the shared printer.
2. Connect the printer to a print server that is connected to your network.

The printer (hp laserjet p2015) appears offline

Press and hol the green 'go' button until the lights flash, (about 4-5 seconds) and release the button,

Wait for the config pages to print out, and then check your network configuration, i.p address, Subnet mask and gateway.

If no network page prints out, you might have a dead Network Interface in the printer.

Can't print to HP 2600n over network

The LaserJet 2600N has a built-in print server and can be connected to the local network (normal ethernet cable) directly. While printer sharing via Windows should work, I found it much more convenient to access it without the need of a hosting computer - you do not need to switch on the desktop PC for printing from the Laptop, for example, its also printing faster.

I have an HP 2015N, and I want to share it on a PC network, so that an Apple Mac laptop can see it accross the network. I have set up printer sharing but the laptop still cant see the printer, any ideas?...

Have you connected it to PC via USB cable, or networtk wia r45/UTP? Because it's "n" I suggest conecting it via network adapter to switch and install it on others PCs like network printer.

DNS errors then? can you map to the printer via hostname too? Are you sure you're not using SP3? When we upgraded to SP3, we had to use the new drivers. Try new drivers.Have you tried just rebuilding your print server? try sharing the printer off your computer in the data center and try t print to that. When you ping the data center from the user's computer... what is the delay?
