Re: archos 605 wifi recovery code 107
Do not pick any just turn it off. I have tried this many times and believe me it worked. You need to open the back cover and unhook the HDD turn the device on after Hdd taken out and turn it back off. This will trick the system and plug HDD back in turn on the archos before closing the cover. If it works you got yur unit back if it does not then my suggetion is use another HDD to trick the system make sure to mark the original HDD is marked swap the HDD and turn onn and off. Put the original back in turn it back on

When I switch on my Archos device, the following message is displayed: "Would you like to recover your system?" What does it mean and what should I do?
You are on the recovery mode screen. It means that your hard drive has been damaged and must be repaired or formatted. With this system recovery mode, you will have to select between "Repair Disk" and "Format Disk". Start by selecting "Repair Disk" and follow the instructions displayed on the screen. See the full PDF manual (available on the Archos web site) on how to use the Repair and Format options.
If repairing the disk did not work, try formatting the disk by selecting "Format Disk". Note that the formatting will erase all data.
If you still cannot restart your Archos after trying a system recovery, you should contact Archos technical support.
i turn it on it goes to a white screen with a blue line across on the
very top it says recovery code 108 the next line says "would you like
to recover your system?" then it gives me three options no, repair
disk, and format disk. I dont know what to do cam body help me?
I fixed my son's 605 4 GB had Recovery code (104) on it These are the steps i followed
* Use the computer for this process that you always used for this archos
* Download the firware Upgrade 2.1
* Plug the Archos to Pc
* When the white screen comes up do format
* Wait until all done then put the firmware in to the root sector of the Archos
* Safely remove the usb for Archos from your pc first and then unplug the cable.
* Do not pick any option on the Archos screen
* Just turn it off from the power button by holding it until it turns off
* Wait about 5 minutes and plug in back to pc
it will come up with white screen again but this time it will start
Update you will see the progress bar moving wait until it is all done
and it will shut off. Turn it back on Your archos will be back to normal.
When you go to download from Archos site it will explain how to download depending upon how your device pops up on your Pc.
Hope this helps
Remove your memory card and restart your archos, when it asks if you want to repair blahblah... just keep pressing the cross till it loads as normal with the sd card 'out', this should work, to stop it happening in the future format your memory card 'sd' with your archos once it has started. Hope that helps!
If you chose any of these options already your Os is gone..
try this solution

recovery code 102 screen - this error message means the the hard disk has failed - I am guessing that the unit has been dropped at some point - Sorry but it back to Archos - The UK number is 0207 949 0115
hitesh_rao - the reset button is at the bottom by the USB and docking ports. Tiny hole, need a pin or paper clip. Once pressed, just switch it back on.
This may be a stupid question, but when trying to configure the TV IR controller function and entering the relevant codes for my TV's, it asks 'did the TV switch off = Yes/No?'
None of my TV's switch off and then I cannot go any further with the config. Is this right? I have logged this with Archos FOUR times now, and they just respond with 'the controller does not control your TV'. I am fully aware that it is not a TV controller, but then why does it want to switch off my TV during the config? I just want them to answer that question.
Somebody please help!
3. Copied update to root of archos drive and rebooted
4. Archoes installed the update and rebooted and came up to desktop again
5. reinstalled plugins (thank god I saved them) copied plug-in to root.
6. Back on the road again
