Yes, I think you have the answer. If you have the knowledge, check the electrical supply side, fuse etc. Check out your user manual in the fault finding section. The oven has a thermo switch that prevents the gas opening if theres no ignition.
you are right on the money, the igniter probably needs to be replaced. remove shelves from oven. remove bottom panel. remove flame shield, Turn the oven on and examine the glow from the igniter, it should be a real bright light, and should go from off to bright in a few seconds. If the glow is slow, or no glow at all, then thats your problem.
the electric ignition is bad and needs replaced in oven. I had the same problem a few months ago and it was the ignitor for the oven. if replacing it yourself, be very careful with ignitor, it is very fragil. do not touch ignitor itself, hold on to it by the base of it. they are not that hard to change.
The adjustment you attempted was to make the regulator track the temperature setting on the knob.
The yellow flame is caused by poor combustion and could be producing carbon monoxide, an odorless, tasteless and very deadly gas.
It sounds like the path for air is blocked and causing the problem.
For anyone, I recommend a carbon monoxide detector in the home if you have any gas appliances or even unused gas connections.
They cost $30-$35 US but flowers for your funeral could run more.
A family near our town lost the father and the wife and 3 kids ended up in the hospital due to this only a few days ago.
They had only moved into the house a week ago.
That model has an electric ignition ? you turn the oven to full (8), keep the dial pressed in & press the ignition switch.
You should hear the clicking & if you look at the bottom of your oven you should see a flame through a small round hole.
You have to keep the dial(not the ignition, the dial(8)) pressed in for about 30 seconds for the thermocouple to warm up before you let it go else the flame will just go out. ( if the thermocouple isn't warm enough it will cu off the gas, safety incase of loss of flame or accidental use of oven)
the valve your talking about with the two wires on it is the safety valve and should not let gas in without the ignightor being on sounds like its leaking i recommend shutting the gas off till the valve is replaced there is no piolet light on theese ranges
Sounds like the oven ignitor is weak. If everything else is working it must be a bad ignitor. These are usually easy to replace and can expect to pay $70-$100 for the part. Check to see if it glows when in bake mode first. If it does then replace the ignitor. You can look at the ignitor, when not on, if it is white-ish then it needs replace or if it doesn't have a full glow, can compare to broil ignitor, then it needs replaced. Let me know if you have further questions.
