Black Lines running down the right side outside of the print area

I had thin gray lines all over the print area, and the REPLACE COLOR PCU error code was lit.
I replaced the COLOR PCU - No help but the error went away.
I replaced the BLACK TONER - No help.
I replaced the BLACK PCU - The gray lines went away, but now I have thick light colored black lines running down the right side of the paper outside of the print area. I looks like the markings of a dirty roller, but there is no roller that comes in contact with that side of the paper.
I tried running about 20 pages of logs config pages and color test pages.
The results were dark lines for a few pages then they would fade slightly for a page or two then get dark again.
I inspected the BLACK PCU - Looks clean.

It may be the fuser. Take it out and inspect the roller on it:

  1. Switch off the device, disconnect the mains plug and wait for 30 minutes before continuing.
  2. Ensure that the bypass tray is closed, or you will not be able to open the front cover.
  3. Open the front cover by pressing the release buttons as shown.
  4. Pull the front cover down towards you.
  5. Disconnect the green plug - squeeze the sides of the plug and pull.
  6. Push the left and right levers outward to unlock the unit.
  7. Pull the unit towards you as shown and lift it clear of the device.
  8. Check the roller for wear marks, If so replace it.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Color Print Quality

In my experience, the fuser has always been the cause of the lines.

I have a Ricoh Aficio CL3500N When I print a vertical page there are thin black lines going down the left side of the page. What causes it?? And what can I do??

Hi, thin black lines are most likely (but not definitely) caused by something in the black PCU (photoconductor unit), either the drum or the charger. Replacing the black PCU will likely get rid of your lines. The Ricoh code for a black PCU if you don't already have one is 402448.

I am geting a vertical line in my print job.

If the line is a colored it could be that color pcu or it could the fuser or black pcu if the line is gray. Black lines are a little harder to trouble shoot.

Balck and white streaks on left side of paper

Usually if there are streaks you need to change the pcu that is the same color as the lines. If the streaks are gray it also could be the fuser, but i would think it is the pcu.

Richo Printer many white lines on black print out

  1. PCU needs R/R
  2. You should replace the PCU if prints show any of the following symptoms.
    • Colors are missing, faint, or partially blurred.
    • Toner smears appear.
    • White or color rivers appear.
    • White or colored streaks appear.
  3. Important: Switch off the device and disconnect it at the mains.
  4. Open the right side cover.
  5. Pull the green levers as shown to release the inner cover.
  6. Lift the inner cover upwards.
  7. Squeeze the green lever on the black PCU.
  8. Pull the unit carefully out of the device and dispose of it in accordance with your local environmental policy.
  9. Place the new PCU on a flat surface.
  10. Peel off the tape from around the new PCU.
  11. Remove the top cover from the PCU. DO NOT remove the bottom cover at this stage.
  12. Rest the new PCU in the device as shown.
  1. Push the PCU into the device while holding the bottom cover. You will hear a click when the PCU has locked into place.
  2. Lower the inner cover.
  3. Push the two green levers as shown to secure the cover.
  4. Close the side cover.
  5. Connect the device at the mains, switch it on and wait for the self-test operation to finish.

Printing problem

Pull out the color photo conductor unit. If you see lines on any of the green drums replace the color photo conductor unit. You can also get color registration errors if the transfer unit is scrached. my first recomendation is to look at the color pcu unit and replace it if you see any lines on it. Also pull out and inspect the black pcu unit.Let me know what you find.

Ricoh Aficio cl2000

Most of the time when I find this happening on a printer, not just Ricoh's it turns out to be the PCU (photo conductor unit). The color PCU is one unit and the black is a seperate unit. Hope this helps.

Black lines down page

It must be the black pcu , the cleaning blade picks up dirt and causes these lines , it can also be the black developer giving you trouble , if you want be very carefull aand strip the pcu open you will see the lines only on the inside and not from outside , then you will know if it is developer or the cleaning blade
