Problem for Emerson EWD2203 DVD Player / VCR Combo
EMERSON DVD PLAYER CLICKING NOISE..DISC ERROR MESSAGE..HELP!!!

can anyone help me?? I have an EMERSON DVD/VCR COMBO..the VCR works fine. The DVD player..when I put a DVD in, it spins, then stops for 10 seconds, then spins, then stops, then makes a clicking nOISE..right after , I get A DISC ERROR message..this happens when all the DVD's are good..ANY comments, please help..THANKS :(

- Hi JEXX..thank u for answering so soon..what is an optical pickup..are they hard to install or expensive????? will it cause the DVD player to spin and then stop for 10 sec, then start spinning again? also cause the Disc error message? Please respond,thanks!Same Problem

- My DVD will not play but maybe once in 10 times. You can hear it spinning, but it just quits. It has had hardly any use at all. at first I thought I may be doing something wrong, like mayber it was on pause, but my grand son checked it out and that is not the problem;thanksRebcca- rebstill

Actually, a clicking noise almost ALWAYS signifies a bad optical pickup. I've replaced them more times than Einstein could count. It's a cheaper DVD player so it might or might not be worth it to take it in for repair than to just get a new one.

start clening with a cleaning cd or blow dry air in to the port of the dvds (buy a can in radio shack) if the problem persist you may have a damages reading eyes or a bad ic...a few times but very few times de car that carry the reading eyes is block by something and a little push solve the problem...good luck...

Had a similar problem. Called for support, but was told needed new reader. I took off the cover and manually slid the reader mechanism back and forth a few times. After doing this, tried another dvd and it worked. Apparently it was stuck and not able to move to read the dvd. Give this a try.
