I'm still trying to buy the spare TV set for parts. Once I get the spare set I won't need the red tube. I just need the blue one.

I will sell it for around 100.00 + 15.00 to ship.
It will be tested of course.

Your red tube is weak or defective. If weak, gain can be adjusted up on the red tube.(cheapest cost) If red tube circuit is defective that will have to be fixed by a technician.(cost between $100 to $200) If tube is worn out, it will have to be replaced(250 to 500). Any work should be done by a qualified tech. Prices will vary depending on your area.
If set is over 5 years old, I recommend replacement.

I own a rca d52w20 television, (pretty old, I know) and the red isnt really red, and the green is kind of brownish. is it worth fixing? i just bought it for $100 dollars. thanks

i would suspect the glycol has gotten dirty. as the serts age there is a repair that can fix this .....but no i am sorry to say. most shops charge a bit for what is called a "gycol change" this is labor intensive. my shop gennerally charged around 100 per tube and 20 for the fuid. 3 tubes= around 350.

Have a Mitsubishi wt-46809 tv and has a 23 shut down. ARCING is seen between the focus and the screen in the red picture tube. When the HV line for red is removed I am able to see the short as the tv...

Yep sounds like a shorted red crt for sure. You can send the tube assembly to a company called Video Display for rebuilding. They do good work and are relatively cheap. I have dealt with them often and no complaints. When they rebuilt them they replace the phosphor as well as the entire gun assembly.

It sounds like your red tube is going out. Fairly expensive piece but easily replaced. They run anywhere from $250-$350.

Yes the red tube is shorted. I will post a link to the site where I work as they have an entire AV48WP30 with a bad tuner they are selling parts off of including the Tubes. they also provide free info on how to switch out the tubes as a unit which is a fairly easy job. Heres the link.

I think it's called "tubes" for the TV, the projection tubes are messed up, and you probably killed your bulbes. Very expensive to fix, just part out what can be used and get a new TV, or get a 60" tv with a smashed screen, and reuse your screen. People sell those on craigslist.org all the time with broken screens because they do not know how to replace them for only 100-200$

Red color on screen is warped on my LCD projector TV.

Normally the oily fluid coming from a picture tube, is the coolant from the tube. It's very combustible and have been known to start a fire. You have two problems in this set. A leaking blue picture tube. A convergence circuit that needs repaired. Call a local servicer and see if they will give you an estimate over the phone. It's time to start looking for a new digital set. Good Luck.
