This is a common problem as nowadays stretchy belts are used in order to avoid motor adjustment.
fitting requires some brute force. the way i do it is to put the belt on the motor pulley then start it as much as i can on the drum pulley. turn the drum pulley keeping force sideways to push the belt on and as you turn, the belt will go on

Help needed replacing Hotpoint Aqualtis belt and pulley wheel!

New belts fit vary tight. You probably have the right one. It takes a lot of force to stretch it in place. Ask someone else to do it for you.

What's your problem?i am trying to fit a drive belt to a hotpoint wma66p washing machine but cant stretch it around motor pulley and drum. i cant see a tensioner bolt. is there one?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
There is no tensioner bolt as such; tension is just maintained by the motor support bolts. Please see my notes on belt changes ;-0)

The motor support bolts should be loosened and the old belt removed. Often putting the new belt on is a bit of a struggle, even with the motor 'loose', because it is new and smaller!
Once on it should be tensioned by pulling the motor against the belt firmly- but not over tight- and the motor support bolts tightened.
ON NO ACCOUNT SHOULD ANY FORM OF LEVERAGE BE USED TO TENSION THE BELT AGAINST THE MOTOR OR FRAME; THAT COULD LEAD TO DAMAGE TO THE BELT, MOTOR AND BEARINGS- EXPENSIVE!

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

How do i fit a belt to a hotpoint wf541g washing machine? The belt does not want to stretch around the drum wheeel and motor pulley.

You cannot stretch a belt. There should be a bolt on the motor that you can loosen to allow the motor to pivot, allowing you to easily install the belt.

How do i fix on a drive belt to a washing machine?

There is a removeable cover at bottom rear of washer..
Undo this, and you will see the motor and belt.
It will be very tight to put on, but this is normal as it is a stretch belt, that is why there is no adjustment on motor.
Hope this helps you .

Thankyou.

Fitting a new drive belt to a hotpoint aquarius

Remove lower rear panel, tilt washer forward, getting someone to help, and fit belt round motor pulley, then fit belt round drum pulley, slowly turning the drum pulley round as you feed the belt on, it is very tight, and you might think the belt is to small, but this is normal, as the belt stretches, just persist, but be careful you do not trap your fingers. Good luck.

The drive belt is not going on to easily. Is there a knack to it

There is no trick to fitting belt, remove top cover and fit belt round motor pulley first, and then gradually feed belt round drum pulley from the top, watch you don't trap your fingers, it is tight, but this I think is the easyist way to do it..
It helps if you tilt washer towards you.it gives you more space to work in.

Belt has come off

I have fitted a replacement belts on a few older machines (Hotpoint WMA series). The procedure is likely to be very similar on yours.

Check your belt for wear - if it fits really easily it may already be stretched and will come off again quickly. A replacement is less than £20.

1/ Turn off power and disconnect.
2/ Check you have Turned off power and disconnect.!

3/ You best course of action is to open the lid. You will need tools. Torx set etc. Look for little finger nail size plastic covers over torx heads on the sides. Remove lid (push back and lift).

Once opened you will see large drive wheel connected to the back of the drum and the drive motor is at the bottom. Use a torch if its dark!. You will need to ensure the belt is fixed around both of these. This is not easy to do. And try not to pinch your fingers.

It may help to remove the concrete block on top of the drum to give you more room. Use large spanner. (You must remember exactly how this is fitted to refit)

4/ Dangle the belt around the motor spindle and lightly pull it to stop it sliding off. Next pull the belt round one side of the drum wheel. Gently rotate the drum until the belt is looped round the drum wheel and the drive motor at the same time. Sounds easy? it's not.

Regards
