Advent Flat Screen with TV/AV Button Clicking & Lighting Intermittenly NO PICTURE

I always leave my TV on all day and I came one day to find the TV/AV button (that is also slight lit up purple) clicking and blinking about every 2 or 3 seconds. The power button does not work at all, none of the features: channels, volume, etc. work and I have NO picture. If the set is plugged in the TV/AV is clicking and the only way to stop it is by unplugging the TV. Any ideas from anyone? I do have a replacement universal remote for the set, but did not touch it after I left the set on the day it started doing this. I have also tried pressing about every button on the remote in case I did accidently change something. We have had some thunder & lighting storms lately, does this sound like it could have been hit by lightning? Any help or advise would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

Check for the power supply capacitor usualy a 220/450vdc is ok to use a largest capacity but remember to use no less than the sugest voltage...good luck...

The fact that its clicking on and off tells me that theres probably a short in the horizontal sweep/output circuit of the set. You see when the set starts up the power supply detects a large current surge and shuts down. Some sets will try three times if this happens and then stop till the power is pressed again. It sounds like this set dosent have that way of operation. Its going to need a technician to look and troubleshoot the problem Good Luck

No picture 2 days ago power went out thru out the neighborhood, once power came back TV worked great. today, go to power on TV, here it clicking, but no picture... cable box working, cable working in 2nd...

It sounds like there`s a sort on the secondaries of the power supply. Before the power went off, did you ever turn the tv off by unplugging it?? In other words, did you turn the power off completely to the set or leaving it in standby?? if you always left it in stby, it will be the capacitors in the power supply, they dry out if the power is always on, so they will need replacing. If you did turn off the power, then I think you`ll find that the power cut had nothing to do with the fault you`ve got now, it will be the Line Output Stage which has failed or gone short circuit. The lower half of the screen is a black box on one channel

Check your closed-captioning settings. You probably have it set for "text". Make sure you turn captioning off and the problem should clear up.

Broken screen

crt televisions use picture tubes, big glass vaccuum sealed shells that electrons are fired from. The front of that shell is the "screen" that you see.

Picture tubes are not worth your money to replace. If it is cracked, you need a new TV.

Advent 32" tv flat screen

It's likely one of two things. There are drive transistors on the CRT board which control the output to the guns, the one that controls the red gun may be open, also check this board for burned resistors. It could also be a bad picture tube although this is less likely. If it is the tube, replacements if available are fairly expensive.
