Question about HP LightScribe dvd640i (DVD640I) DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner

1 Answer

HP Pavillion aa620n cd and dvd do not work

When I go into control panel/system/device manager and click on either the cd or dvd it states that this system is working properly. Yet when I go into My Computer and right click on either my cd or dvd and then click on Properties/hardware it comes up with my cd and dvd is using W DC WD 1600JB-00Guao. When I scroll down the list it shows lite-on-dve+rw sohw-802s as well as Samsung cd-rom sc-148A .These are the ones that my computer is supposed to use. I scroll down and clicked on the one for the dvd and highlite it but the apply button does not go on. Am unable to change it. Same with the cd. Is there any way I can get my cd and dvd back?

SOURCE: dvd re-writer not burning

What DVD burner is it? can u burn any data on it by dragging and dropping data in explorer and inserting a blank CD? If not, the LASER assembly that is used to write DATA may not be functioning (since u mentioned u can read stuff but not write). You can get it replaced at a low cost and need not buy a completely NEW DVD writer. I dont think it is a LENS problem since u can read data and not write data.

I would suggest downloading Driver Magician. There is a small fee to register the product but once this is done it searches for and updates all drivers on your machine. Worked like a dream for me.

I have a hp pavillion laptop with the philips dvd-ram sdvd8821

Just try to reinstall the DVD driver software through the Add Hardware wizard at the control panel. From the Start menu, left click the Control Panel, and the Add Hardware. Right to left click to open. Just follow the instructions and let your PC do the rest. If you have an internet, connect your PC without opening any window. Your PC will autoconnect and search the internet for the proper software driver. Wait for
a few minutes, until it is installed. Hope this Help.
