Amp Light Won't Stay On

Installed the amp as per instruction manual yesterday. The power indicator light came on during the first test, but began to dim out. Again, without cycling the cars power, the light came on and dimmed again. It continued to do this, all while outputting no signal to the subs. When the car was powered on and off, the amp light will not come on anymore. All the wires were unplugged and replugged, but still no response.

Re: Amp Light Won't Stay On

I had the same problem installing my amp as well. My solution was a bad ground. I have an S-10 so finding the proper place to ground was tough, I now have it grounded to the drivers seat under the torque bolt.

Re: Amp Light Won't Stay On

Sounds as if you either have some bad wiring probably on the 12volt side or a major problem with the amp. Seeing as how it's new I'd be taking it back to the retailer. I just hope you didn't reverse the polarity of the 12 volts or maybe put 12 volts up a speaker output. That could mess with the warranty somewhat. Are you sure you have the 12 volts connected to a good solid supply and the earth a good one too. I always ensure any heavy drain equipment is connected directly to the battery with heavy duty wiring and well fused. BMW

Lanzar vibe 262n amp has power, everything hooked up, remote good, but amp does not come on., no indicator lights on,

In most cases if you are positive that you have power from 12volt and remote, the negative source is the culprit. It's best to double check power sources with a test light. I've had many times thinking my remote was good but found it not by connecting the 12volt source to both remote and positive for confirmation. Ground sources are often over seen as a problem but some metal parts are often coated so it's best to sand grounding surface before connecting. Trouble shooting seems difficult but with a simple test light you can run many test. Even including testing your if your channels are operating by watching the light flash to the music. Worst case, the amp is burnt. Hope this helps. GL

Kicker zx1000.1 stopped working completely. I have 3 Kicker 10" cv subs hooked to it. The first time it shut off I turned the system off. When I turned it back on it worked for a few minutes and...

First check to see if your'e getting power to the amp by using a test light and touch the main power(12V battery) connector on the amp, test light should come on since it's constant 12v supply. Now turn on the radio and test the remote wire connector on the amp and you should have 12V(test light should come on). Also make sure that you have a good connection with your ground wire, check both connection points to make sure it's good. Now if you have power where your'e suppose to and when your'e suppose to and the amp does not power up, then it may be time for a new amp. Try wiggling the connections at the amp a bit, the solder may be cold/loose.

Blowing both amp fuses

Then you must have a short somewhere , either your main power cable has a pinch or short somewhere , it is not correctly installed , your blue or amp turn on wire has a short, the vehicles battery has problems or a charging problem from the cars alternator. Try all of a cheap test light at an Autozone or Pepboys put the grounding clip to a 12+ Volts source and put the test light tip to the red power cable that powers up the amp, if the test light bulb turns on then you have a short somewhere and you would have to trace the cable from battery connection to the amp connection for any accidental grounding or pinch wire.

Good luck.

Good luck.

The light that has the lightning icon keeps blinking continous. what could be the problem

Hello djmalibu77,

You do not say if the amp has been installed and working properly for some time or if the problem began immediately upon installation.

If the amp was just installed, I'd suspect a wiring problem. Either a faulty ground or too low of an impedance.

If the amp has bee working properly and the problem just started, I'd start by removing all connections except ground, power, and remote and see if the amp powers up properly. If it does, reconnect the wiring one at a time to determine where the faulty wire or component is located. A grounded or shorted input, shorted voice coil, or a short or ground in the output wiring will cause an amp to go into protection. If these all check out, it's probably a fault in the amp itself.

Hope this helps.

the amp is going into protect mode due to something wrong in the amp or some thing in the wiring to it ooh yea if you are getting 18v power to the amp that is way to high it should not be higher then 15v if the amp is in protect mode it will not play at all.

Pioneer prs-d5000spl

This sounds like an amplifier that trying to push a lower impedance load than its supposed to. Typical aftermarket car speakers have a 4ohm reading per voicecoil. By running more than one speaker per channel you can get more power(sometimes alot more) from the amp by feeding it a 2ohm load or more. If the amp isn't designed to handle ratings less than 4ohms a channel it will overheat and shutdown.

Powers on but no sound

Check the main amp fuse under the hood, even if it looks good just change it. Often times that light on the amp can come on just from the power amp tunon wire. Try a friends subwoofer box just to make sure the connectors on your box are good, and if that doesn't work then give me some more details....year/make/model of car, what kind of sub, what types of things do you see on the side of the there a green light as well as a red light?

Need help with amp hookup

If the protection Light is on thats an indication thats to tell you that theres something wrong with the amp. Or the speaker. Try to first with the amp off!! Disconnect all the speakers to the amp. Turn on the amp. Is the light still on?? If it is then that tells ya theres a short in the outputs or the driver section of the amp circuit and needs to be serviced. If the light goes off then check the speakers for shorts and the speaker wires for a pinched wire running to the speakers from the amp. I must have found hundrens of pinches during my hay days of troubleshooting vehicle systems. If your not a tech Im sorry theres not much I can assit you with the repairing of the amp as there are no user serviceable parts inside and you need special equipment to fix them. your gonna need to seek a pro to assist in the repair of the amp. Good Luck
