Question about HP w19 19" LCD Monitor

Can't run HP W19 monitor in 1440x900

I can't get my monitor running in the optimal 1440x900 screen resolution. I checked the HP site for driver updates and installed the newest, but this resolution still does not show up in control panel. My OS is XP Pro. Thanks for any help.

    Thx bammbammfran :)
My bad, I completely forgot that I reinstalled XP on this computer (I don't use it that much, I work on my laptop mainly). Yep, I installed all firmware/drivers from the HP site and everything works as should.

What computer do you have the monitor plugged into and what video card does it use.

Did you update the drivers to the video card in the computer or did you get monitor drivers ?

Wrong display drivers will get you every time.

Resolution capabilities are a complicated blend of the abilities of your graphics card and the abilities of your screen. You will not always get a 1:1 match. You can improve your chances by installing the "monitor information" file that is usually supplied on a CD that comes with the monitor. Also, updating the drivers for your graphics card (see the manufacturer's web site) might help.

HPW2338h goes black after about 3 seconds. Push power button on, it turns on and then black after 3 seconds. Power light on monitor stays on.

hi,

you can try to change the screen resolution with a spare monitor to a different setting, usually higher 1024X768, then unplug the old monitor and then plug in the flat screen. try different resolutions untill it submits. if you cant get it to run on your machine, take it to another computer and see if you can get it to run on that. if it wont run on either then you have a problem with the monitor. pawn shops usually have flatscreens for way cheaper than new..

I recently purchased and installed the P191W monitor, and now my pictures are stretched. I was told I new to get a new graphics card. What card should I get? Or can I just update the driver? I am running...

Find your monitor's native resolution, in your case it's 1440x900. Go to display settings (usually right-click on desktop and choose properties), go to settings tab and move the resolution slider until it shows 1440x900. Confirm, the screen should flicker for a moment and adjust - and you should be fine.
If there is no 1440x900 resolution available, then installing a monitor .inf file that came on a disk accompanying the monitor might help.
