Trying to install windows XP expert on R61. BIOS does not recognize CD drive on bootup. What is the preferred order for bootup?

Change the boot order so that CDROM / DVD is first. Sometimes it's labled Optical Drive. If your machine won't read the XP cd try carefully cleaning the lens with a DRY q-tip.

Let me know if you need any more help!

Doesn't boot up and start

When you computer starts select Last Known good configuration,
if this deosn't work then select Safe Mode.
Then goto Control Panel - System - Hardware -Device manager to see if there are any problem devices ie item with the yellow ? against it.
The problem devices may need the drivers installed again.

If Safe Mode does not work then you need to bootup with the Windows CD and do a System repair.
If this does not work then use the ACER restore CD
If you have lost the ACER CD then you need to reinstall Windows with a Windows XP CD and then install SP2 and SP3 plus all your other programs.
