    would love any help

My tv will not power on. I do not see any red led lights on. The only light that I see on my tv is the blue power light and it is not coming on. I was watching tv on the 20th of July and decided to turn the tv off from my direct tv remote. When I went to cut it back on with both remotes, the tv would not respond. No lights or sound at all. I also checked the plug and chord.

You did not say if any lights are lighting up on the unit. If the red LED is lighted or blinking your power supply, and fuses, are probably OK. If the LED is blinking it means that you probably have a problem in the high voltage circuit. Usually the Horizontal Output Transistor is shorted. Could be caused by a power surge, lightning strike or shorted flyback. If you know TV safety, how to use a DMM, soldering techniques and are good with tools you might be able to fix this. Unplug and open the unit by removing the back. The HOT is near the flyback (a large round cylinder with a large red wire coming out of it) usually on the right side, mounted to a large piece of aluminum (used as a heat sink). Using a DMM check the HOT. If shorted this is your problem. Replace the HOT and the flyback. Check all resistors and diodes in the circuit for problems and replace any out of specification. This may solve your problem. If not the HV Block could be shorted also. This is part of the same circuit and is where the wire from the flyback goes. If after replacing all these parts the unit still is not working you will proabably need a repair tech to look at it. If you do not feel confident doing any of the repairs listed above seek the help of a reputable repair shop. This repair should not be very expensive in relation to the cost of the set. Good luck.

If you know that the unit is getting power and there is no response at all (nothing lights up) you could have something as simple as a blown fuse, a problem with the power supply or as I said before a shorted HOT transistor. Checking the fuses are straight forward. Remove the back, with the unit unplugged, using a DMM check the continuity of all fuses. There could be one or more in the power supply and one or more in the HV section. If you do not have troubleshooting skills you will need the help of a qualified repair tech as these problems can be very complicated (or very simple) but knowing where to specifically check is tough unless you are trained and familiar with troubleshooting. It's hard to give you a cost estimate with no idea of what could be wrong but I would think that no matter what it is it would be cheaper to repair the unit than replace it. Good luck.

2 1/2yr. old Protron Tv will not turn on. power light dose not light... the outlet it was pluged into is live & running a diffrent Tv now. Can you tell me if the protron Tv is shot or is there a fix?

Make sure there is no other power switch anywhere. The problem may be bad caps on the power supply board, or the board itself is bad. Parts for some of these Protrons are hard to get. If its the caps it should be a cheap fix, depending on the repair shop, but the board could cost $100 or so, not including shop labor to install it.

Pops power supply fuse when I plug it in

Check to fuse box to see if the fuse is working properly. Next, see if the TV "pops" the power supply when pluged into a different outlet in a different power supply area. If the TV works without poping the fuse, the fuse with the original outlet needs replacing. If both outlets "pop", either the electrical system needs checking. Or if this is a new problem that started when you first tried the TV, the TV could be wanting more power than the electrical system will allow. Check the power requiremnets in the TV manual.

first things check the outlet for power.
chech and make shure your surge protector is in the on posishion.
try pluging sumthig else in wer the tv will be pluging into.
at least you know if its the outlet or the tv set.

ok now press the power button on the tv set not the remote.

if it did not work you can have a tech see if the internal fusse is good or bad.

My first recomendation would be to try pluging into a diffrent wall outlet as well as something that is on a diffrent circut . It is a known problem that the pins inside that make the connection could be worn out . There are several pins from the one on the hose to the handle ect , check all componants to see that where the connection is lost you will find that you will need to replace that componant
