Download the correct drivers, for installing the high definition drivers, you have to run the patch, which is initialize automatically, if you have got the right drivers

My computer says it does not have sound device

Hi,

You can reinstall the sound drivers from the Acer recovery management, to do so:
Start Menu> All Programs> Acer erecovery management> Restore> Restore Application & Drivers> Contents> Select Realtek and install it

OR

Got to http://gd.panam.acer.com/home/
Select the computer model
Select Operating System installed on your computer
Click Drivers
Select Audio (Realtek) and download it.
Once downloaded, install it on your computer.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

Have an acer aspire sa80, formatted hard drive, no missing : Multimedia Audio Controller Video Controller (VGA Compatible) USB Controller drivers. I use a dongle to access wireless internet, and as usb not...

Hi,
You need drivers for your system.
All the official acer drivers for your system are here :-

http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/desktop/power_s260.html#driver

As listed at the site:-

Realtek Audio Driver is your Multimedia Audio Controller.
NVIDIA VGA Driver should be your Video Controller, if that don't work try SIS VGA Driver.

SiS 661 chipset driver should fix your usb problem, if it dosn't update windows to SP2.
Get that from here: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/. Then try again with SiS 661 Chipset Driver.

You should also install the rest of the drivers for your aspire sa80.

You said you had no access to internet so burn the drivers using a friends computer (one with internet) and install from the disc and you should be fine.

Ive put xp on my acer aspire m1100 and i cant get it to notice my realtek onboard sound card

Guessing it would of come with Windows installed originally. Most companies like Acer, Advent etc install drivers automatically with windows rather than providing standard drivers for them.
If your sound card is listed here, http://support.thetechguys.com/layout.aspx?ID={560ea9e5-de28-43c6-8220-3ebad33008b8}&CatID={a790afca-b65b-4935-bf80-a535887a8c5c} you'll be able to download the necessary driver. If not, you may have to visit Realtek's own website to get hold of the drivers. (Make sure you copy entire link as the last } seems to get left out).
It may also be possible to download the drivers via Windows Update (it's good for something sometimes!)

Hello Mark,,

You can open the Realtek Control Panel from the Control Panel and set the Environment to None.

Please check if it resolves the issue.

Good luck!
