Question about Canon BJ 30 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Grabbing paper My neighbour has my old B&W canon BJ-30 printer. It struggles now to grab paper. I bought can of Rubber Roller Rejuvenator (recommended to me) but I cannot open casing to reach rollers. There is only one screw that I can see but when removed casing still firmly in place. Grateful for any suggestions to open case if recommended or alternatives. With thanks

Hi, This is Roger D
There is a tool called a "Manual Feed Guide" made by Canon for this problem. The part number is MG-10 not sure if it is still available. It is usable in the BJC 85 as well.
I have one, sadly not for sale as I have two of this series of printer BJ30 and BJC 75.
It comes with an instruction manual as well. It uses plain water on the guide to clean the roller. It would be better to ring Canon than trying via the net as thats how I got mine.

Paper not feeding properly; getting stuck

When paper feed improperly, 99 times out of a 100 it is the rubber wheels which pull the paper. They get worn out semi-quickly and lose grip. I suggest grabbing some rubber rejuvenator spray (link for it below. That'll be cheaper than replacing the wheels all of the time.
I hope this helps and thanks for using Fixya!

MX330 Printer jams continually - rollers won't grab the paper

If it's less than one year old, it's under warranty. Take it to a Canon authorized service centre and they will fix it for free (warranty). You can find a service centre by contacting Canon - go to their website.

If it's more than one year old, try this:

Clean the rubber tire(s) with rubbing alcohol. If still no good, try gently scuffing the surface of the rubber with an emery board or some sandpaper. This may bring back the surface of the rubber so it will grab the paper. If stll no good, replace the printer, as a repair may cost almost as much as a new printer.

Hope this helps!

I cant get the machine to grab the paper and it says its out of paper, yet its not out of paper.

Hi, the Ip3000 has 3 different feeding trays...
make sure that the printer is trying to "grab" the paper in the tray that you have chosen to use in the printer properties box...
when you give the print command can you see the rubber roller moving to grab the paper in the top feeder tray???
if the roller that feeds the printer is not moving you may have accidentally changed the settings to grab paper from the bottom tray...the one right under the door that opens to let printed pages out of the printer...
the 3rd feeder tray is the DVD/CD printing tray...
I suggest that you look at the printer Properties for remedial action...
hope this helps you with your problem...
suggest you place paper in the bottom tray before making adjustments to see if it is trying to grab the paper from there...

Paper not feeding properly, sometimes it goes through crooked and sometimes it isn't grabbed and put through printer

The little wheels that 'grab' the paper sometimes become too smooth and will simply slip on paper. There is wheel rejuvenator you might find at a local stationary store or you might want to try an alcohol soaked q-tip on the wheels.
