Question about Hansol 730E 17" CRT Monitor

1 Answer

Low width Same problem teleman enquired about. My wife said her monitor was fine when she left it, but when she returned an hour later the monitor width had reduced and is now only about 90% of what is required, even with the width set to 100%. I suspect a capacitor has failed, but before diving in blindly with no schematic was wondering if someone had already determined which capacitor (or other component) was responsible for this problem.

After checking these monitors I found that the capacitor next to the coil near the loptx was open circuit. The coil gets very hot and breaks down the 5n6 capacitor. I have replaced the capacitor and I now put it underneath the chassis as there is little room to move it away from the coil.

This does sound like a power supply problem... likely failing electrolytic capacitors. Open and look for capacitors with buldging ends.

Monitor goes blank less than a second after turning on.

Sounds like either there is a bad connection from the computer to the monitor, or the monitor has a faulty power regulator, causing the monitor to overheat prematurely, and shut off.

91 previa LE, 205K miles. diving Tucson to St George, UT, 800 pound load. After 3 hours at 65-75 mph, had to slow down as engine was struggling to keep up speed. Stop for gas, and engine was "tapping"...

It is probably a oil pressure problem. If there is some sort of small blockage in an oil journal it could stop oil from flowing to the lifters which would cause the the tapping noise. at this point the best thing to do would be to try and flush out the engine with some sort of desludging agent. One thing i usualy do is drain the oil and re-fill it with atf and run it for about half an hour or an hour and then re-drain and replace with normal engine oil. transmission fluid contains tonnes of detergents and should help clean out any blockages.

Less H-width for higher resolutions

this is not the electronic problem, this monitor is made to support such (800x600) resolution.

Solid line completly across screen, monitor is brand new

Your comp's video card refresh rate (in Hertz, abbreviated Hz) may not be totally compatible with the monitor. Check the properties of your video card, and change the refresh rate (you may have to look around for it) to 60 Hz. This is a pretty standard refresh rate that works with just about every monitor. If it's already there, I'm afraid someone else will have to try and help!

Hope this helps, and please rate my answer, good OR bad.

Good luck!

Low width

Many low width problems are caused by a leaky diode in the yoke return circuit. Often in a to220 package on the heatsink around the flyback. Mike
