Self-care

  • If blistering develops, cold moist compresses applied for 30 minutes, 3 times a day can offer relief.
  • Calamine lotion may relieve itching.[13]
  • Oral antihistamines such as diphenhydramine (Benadryl, Ben-Allergin) can relieve itching.[13]
  • Avoid scratching.[13]
  • Immediately after exposure to a known allergen or irritant, wash with soap and cool water to remove or inactivate most of the offending substance.
  • For mild cases that cover a relatively small area, hydrocortisone cream in nonprescription strength may be sufficient.
  • Weak acid solutions (lemon juice, vinegar) can be used to counteract the effects of dermatitis contracted by exposure to basic irritants.
  • A barrier cream, such as those containing zinc oxide (e.g., Desitin, etc.), may help protect the skin and retain moisture.

Cursor problem

Disabling the touchpad on a Dell Inspiron can be useful when typing for long periods of time, or using an external mouse. Bumping or tapping the touchpad while typing can cause cursor jumping and unwanted results. Use the touchpad software to enable or disable touchpad controls. Download the driver for your touchpad at the Dell Support website.

Click on the "Touchpad" icon in the task bar. If the icon doesn't appear, you can download and install the driver for the touchpad from the Dell website, or choose "Start" and "Control Panel." Choose "Device Select" on the touchpad menu, or choose "Mouse" in the "Control Panel" menu and "Device Select." Click "Disable" under "Touchpad" to turn off the touchpad, or click "Disable Touchpad/Pointing Stick When a USB Mouse is Connected."

While typing it will jump to wherever the pointer is so if Im not looking I'll be typing on a whole different line. So irritating how do I fix this?

If you are typing on a notebook computer that has a "touchpad", your fingers/thumb are contacting the touchpad, and that results in a "click" of the mouse to set the "focus" where the arrow is pointing.
Then, the characters you type are inserted at the new location.

Can move the mouse but not clikc with the touchpad

Hi,

if you installed an external mouse, it would over-ride the touchpad.
try removing the external mouse, and tap the touchpad twice as if you were double clicking it.
also you could try re-installing the touchpad device driver, usually synoptics or similar.

Mouse/touchpad issues

Try to connect a external mouse.
If it does work ok with the external mouse . It means that their is a problem the touchpad.
Who can take it to a service center for repair or you can use the external mouse.
