Question about Computers & Internet
I have exactly the same problem as you (except I have the 170b model). I took it apart and it has more than 7 pins. I'd like to try the same approach, but i'm a software kind of a person, not a hardware one, so i'm a bit nervous. How easy is it to bend the pins back once you've find the right one? Won't they snap? Did you get a replacement board for the buttons in the end?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Been there, done that. The power LED cycling indicates that the switchmode PSU is shutting down and trying to restart over. Standard symptom, let me guess the bulging cap is on the top row. Replace it with a same value/voltage (1000uF/10V from memory) low ESR 105C type and you'll be back in business.

It can be the switch is broken or the ribbon cable may have come lose during shipping, the problem is the way the caseis put together with plastic snap-clips which can easily be broken during diassembly of the case, you may also leave some scratch marks during opening also, the seller may not like that and may not honor any warranty.

The problem could be that your motherboard requires "active Speakers" IE: speakers with their own amplifier. A lot of the newer Motherboards are now like this to cover the use of 5.1 surround sound speaker systems. If you have a set of Active speakers or can borrow a set off of a friend it should show you if this is the case or not
