Your philips volume control problem

I have exactly the same problem as you (except I have the 170b model). I took it apart and it has more than 7 pins. I'd like to try the same approach, but i'm a software kind of a person, not a hardware one, so i'm a bit nervous. How easy is it to bend the pins back once you've find the right one? Won't they snap? Did you get a replacement board for the buttons in the end?

Cheers,
Poldie

SOURCE: Blank screeen

Been there, done that. The power LED cycling indicates that the switchmode PSU is shutting down and trying to restart over. Standard symptom, let me guess the bulging cap is on the top row. Replace it with a same value/voltage (1000uF/10V from memory) low ESR 105C type and you'll be back in business.

SOURCE: Right arrow button isn't sensing my touch

It can be the switch is broken or the ribbon cable may have come lose during shipping, the problem is the way the caseis put together with plastic snap-clips which can easily be broken during diassembly of the case, you may also leave some scratch marks during opening also, the seller may not like that and may not honor any warranty.

SOURCE: My philips170b lcd can't produce sound.It

The problem could be that your motherboard requires "active Speakers" IE: speakers with their own amplifier. A lot of the newer Motherboards are now like this to cover the use of 5.1 surround sound speaker systems. If you have a set of Active speakers or can borrow a set off of a friend it should show you if this is the case or not

Bought a genuine remote off eBay for a Harman Kardon HK 3250. Drives everything fine except the volume control. Would it be faulty or doesn't it work due to a wind volume control?

Turning, or winding, volume controls can still be adjusted with the original remote control. You should check to see if it is the exact remote that originally came with your model. Different model remotes might control some functions, but not others. The remote is most likely not broken, just the wrong one.

I have a Philips 170B7 monitor. The volume adjustment bar always appears in my screen. It's very disturbing. The volume also ups and downs automatically. How can i remove this problem? [ I have cleaned the...

I had this exact problem with a Philips 170B. I thought there was dust/bugs in there and tried blowing them out, to no avail. Eventually, I decided I had nothing to lose - I dug in and see what was going on.

  1. There are three screws:
    • one each side, on the back toward the bottom
    • you also have to take off the stand - it has four bolts, accessible behind a plastic cowl - just pull the cowling off.
    • now you can get to the third screw - it's behind the stand. I didn't see it at first :'
  2. Pull up the two tabs on the bottom of the display, and ease your way all the way around the whole bezel with a spatula or something. Take your time.
  3. You can now get to the circuit board with the buttons on it. I unplugged the leads, the two screws, and eased it up off the two little pegs that locate it under the bezel.
  4. The volume buttons are labeled "left' and "right". I levered them little fellas up and yanked them off with me pliers :)
  5. While this worked for me, be prepared to DESTROY YOUR MONITOR - I certainly was. However, I am delighted that I no longer have to go out and replace it with 24" of full HD beauty :/

Phillips 170B volume adjustment bar automatically pops up

Usually for the volume bar to just pop up something would have pressed the volume button. It is possible that the volume button has gotten a malfuntion on it and this makes it to pop-up all the time. Try getting underneath the volume button cleaned. But preferably this should be done by an expert.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

No buttons work...not even the volume and others along side

I had the EXACT same problem this morning. After leaving the cingular store where the guy just wanted to sell me a new phone, I went home and took the phone apart - just took off the battery cover, battery, sim card and the rest of the back cover, reattached cover, put everything back together and everything works fine now! Try it - good luck! You need a T5 torx bit to remove the two screws holding on the back cover.
