This shouldn't be a Vista/XP problem but an email software problem. It depends what software you are using to read your emails, I will assume it is Outlook for now.

I assume you mean that you have saved emails from Outlook onto your desktop all you need to do is save them in the right format and you should be able to read them with your XP email software. I would suggest saving them as HTML or even just plain text. The .msg format is different in every version of Outlook so while a newer version can read the old versions the same is not true in reverse. How can an older version of any software know how to read files saved in a newer version?

If this doesn't help then reply and tell me what software you are using and what format you are saving the emails in.

HTH,

Dave.

If your mail account is configured on both systems as an IMAP account since the mail is on the server, both devices would see the same mail.
That doesn't apply to your Outlook Contacts or presumably apple Contacts

Toshiaba Sattelite laptop model L45-S7409 dont let installed Xp

well, this should be fun! your toshiba (i have an older one-m35x- came with xp home). i'm sure yours came with a restore disk with vista on it, so that's no use to you, considering the circumstances. i have several friends that gave up on vista, and changed back to xp!
sort of the windows me2000 for the later part of the first decade of the 21st century!
1st you need to back up any important files to an external hdd, large capacity thumb-drive, optical drive (cd or dvd). then find my computer- should be on desk-top, right click on your hdd and click on 'format hard-drive'. choose 'fast format' and ntfs. if you want partitions- choose # and size. i assume your hdd has a large capacity, but unless you want to install another OS (Linux), or use another partition to back-up your main partition, then don't bother.
format your hdd, and then install xp.this is gonna' take some time! i assume you have a legal version of xp. if not, turn off auto windows updates, or they'll give you some grief! the firewall should be alright.
once you get everything working- as far as xp is concerned (reinstall wireless connectivity, etc.), put in your device with backups from vista, and hope xp will accept them! make sure you saved your contacts list, and favorites from whatever browser you were using on vista- i prefer mozilla firefox, myself! hell with ie!
good luck!

Cannnot accesss yahoo mail account

Fixed it on the advise of others by turning off computer. Restarting and and after many more failed attempts at logging on to Yahoo finally getting logged in (to an unfamiliar Yahoo page) and eventually finding an option titled "mail" and voila, there was my email in the format which am accustomed to.

Vista Business and XP

Have you installed SP1 for Vista? This was supposed to help with some of the speed issues. However, I am on XP, having experienced both, and not yet willing to deal with the issues surrounding Vista, as there are just too many. On another note, MS is offering free support for issues following installation of SP1 (see https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?prid=11274&gprid=500921), so it could be that, assuming that you can make them understand this is related to SP1, and that they could zero in on the reason for your speed issue, you might decide you want to stay with Vista. At any rate...

As for the mail, it sounds as though you have been using the Windows Mail included with Vista exclusively. There is not a "Windows Mail" program for Windows XP. The exact solution to the question of how to bring your mail back over depends on what you used previously, and what type(s) e-mail accounts you have/had. You could take a look at Windows Live Mail (it's free, at least for now) at http://get.live.com/wlmail/features#ID0E2BAC and see if this would do it for you.

However, aside from the Vista/Mail/Live Mail combination, the solution for mail in going back to an XP OS depends on what you use and did use for mail previously. If you have an account with an ISP from which you are downloading your mail, you should be able to put copies of those messages back on the server by, in effect, e-mailing them to yourself if no other choices are available. (The individual choices / features depend heavily on the ISP and e-mail provider you are using.) I would say to just make sure you have things set in Windows Mail NOT to download the messages from the ISP before you start sending them to yourself.

Then, once you have reconverted back to XP and installed whatever program you will use to handle your mail (Outlook Express?), download them back in. You can export from Windows Mail or Outlook Express into Outlook - reference http://support.microsoft.com/kb/196347/en-us - so this may represent another choice. The downside with this is that the date/time exported will end up being the date/time on the message in Outlook.

To summarize, no there is no Windows Mail - in XP, the only equivalent is Outlook Express. You will have to go to some effort regardless of the choice, but there are several ways to get your e-mail back down to the new choice. Best of luck, and if you need more info, please post back. Otherwise, thanks for rating FixYa!
