Hi lovinthepine:
1st. clean the unit, inside and out! Clean fire bowl/pot, it'll have small'ish holes for air and a larger one for the igniter. Clean out all holes in fire pot! Make sure fiberglass gasket material between firepot and firebox floor is in tacked and not leaking. make sure ash pan door is closed tight. Clean finned heat-ex's, this requires pulling out the two heat exchanger cover plates inside the firebox., next pull the right side panel and remove neg pressure blower & clean. These can get cloged up with ash and half burnt pellets. Tall flames & black smoke mean the unit is out of adjustment. Try closing up the pellet feed plate some, it's located in the pellet hopper area. Adjust opening smaller and wait 15 min, takes that long for change. If that doesn't get it, try opening the positive pressure blower's restrictor plate some. Remove left cover panel & find semi funneled blower cover plate, loosen screw and slide plate sideways +/- 0.25". If that doesn't do it, make sure all blowers are coming on, check for exhaust blockage in stove output/Flue sys. I hope that help ya, good luck!

I had a similar problem changed the vaccume control and fixed my ploblem, you can pull the two wires off the canister (round thing on the back wall) and connect them together to test if it works for you. i dont suggest you run your stove for too many days though whithout replacing it. local hardware store one works fine for about $20.00

Why does my quadra fire 1000 not lite..i checked blower moter ignighter could it be thermocouple?

Wood burning or pellet stoves create acid vapor. The vapor damages thermocouples faster than a gas stove.

Quadra Fire Pellet stove-will not ignite

I own a Quadrafire pellet stove. I have had this thing for 10 yrs. It seems every year at the start of the season I have some kind of problem. I clean it at the end of the season completely. First couple of burns are fine then get a good cold day and it doesn't work. All the gaskets, the exhaust blower, ignitor, glass front, and exhaust piping have had to be replaced. Now I have a blinking red light in the control box and cannot find anything on line to help. Does anyone know why this red light blinks 3 times every 10 seconds inside the control box? It's not the call for heat light. Think I may change to a wood burning stove to many headaches.

Pellet stove does not light how do you get it started to light up the flames.

Hi,
I will assume that you do not have an electric starter on yours...
So you fill the pot with pellets and then use a product like this to help you get the fire started...
You can do it by using newspaper or wood chips, but it is much more difficult...

Our pellet fire seems to take a long time to ignite and start flaming we are using a sack of pellets from last year can you helpp it is taking aboout 20 minutes to produce a small flame

I suspect that the sack of pellets left over from last year, have absorbed a lot of moisture during that time. Therefore, they are hard to light and slow to get up to a roaring flame. Really, there's not much you can do to correct this. Other than stop using that sack of pellets to get the fire started. Use a new fresh bag to start the fire and add the others to the hopper, after the fire gets really hot.

Hope this helps you.

Quadra-Fire Pellet stove-Pellet pot fills. Motor is running but will not light.automatically shuts down after about 5 minutes. Cleaned out

Sounds lie an Ignition Box problem. Quadra Fire recently redesigned their Ignition Boxes, so your may wan to replace yours. In addition, contact Quadra Fire Technical Service and speak to Steve Tate. He's a real guru when it comes to this problem. Don't settle for anyone else.

Hope this helps solve your problem.

Our napoleon stove barely heats the room it is in and it is new first year used,,

Try this....before starting the stove, place a handful of pellets into the burn pot. Start stove with feed rate about 2-3. Let the pellets ignite fully, then turn pellet rate to about 5, less then max. Let a good flame develop for 5 minutes or so, then turn on the fan. I set the fan at about 3-4 as advised by the tech. Reduce feed rate to about 4. I keep my damper on 2 1/2 to 3 to supply air intake. Napoleon is not the greatest stove, and I'm having an issue with mine after 3 years, but hopefully this helps. It will never give the heat of a wood stove, but get a strong fire going first, then tune it down after the room gets warm.

I have a Quadra fire 1200 pellet stove insert. The convection blower does not stay on continuously. 2 min on 2 min off

It may be working properly. If it seems that it's a little cool in the room and the blower is cycling like you say then the stove may be getting chilled. If this is the case then the low-temp switch is cutting the blower off.

If the room is quite hot there may be a problem with the blower. Check to see if it has a bunch of dust in it making it run hot and tripping the internal thermostat.

Please respond with the 'comment' button, down below the ads. I'm considering a pellet stove and I'd like to hear anything you have to say about yours.

We have a pellet stove -seems to be working ok except that we have a smell of smoke like that of having a fireplace. We think everything is sealed correctly. Any suggestions?

From what I have read on these things, never had one, but they have 2 fans, maybe one, plus an auger and thermostat. The one fan would **** fresh air in from the room to fuel the fire, while the other fan would blow the heat back out from a sealed area. The auger spins constantly, slow, dropping pellets on the fire determined by the thermostat. If this is right and relates to your stove, I can see where the smell of smoke would come from. The second fan is pulling in smoke from the fire. Check the gaskets in that area. I was wondering if it wasn't just the new stove smell you were getting?
