MP210 driver does not work with ASUS LAPTOP WITH Vista
I have an ASUS laptop running windows Vista and i have tried installed my new canon printer but it doesnt work. I have installed the printer on xp but d\for some reason it does not work on Vista (asus laptop). I was told by a techie to download an earlier version of the driver but it slook slike there is only one version released. I have tried everything. The laptop recognises teh printer when i plug it in via usb but it simply does not print. Can anyone shed some light.

On Canon's support page for this printer PM210 Support there are 3 different driver files available. One is for XP and Vista 32-bit systems, one for XP 64-bit systems, and one for Vista 64-bit systems. If you know what system you have select it in the drop down menu and download and install it.

If you're using Windows XP, Vista, or 7 then the operating system will probably have the driver in its library already and will install on its own when it detects it on the system. However, if you're using a netbook with Windows Starter 7 this may not happen as the driver library is more limited..
An alternative is to download the appropriate driver for your operating system directly from this link at CanonUSA, and install it that way. In this way you know you're getting the most up-to-date file as well.
I originally posted this problem and I have since found out it is a problem with only one version of the Asus Notebook series, namely the Asus A5Z otherwise known as the Pro 50Z. Asus were extremely quick emailing me an attament showing me what I had to remove from my laptop.
You simply go into the REGISTRY EDITOR (easily found by doing a search once you're in WINDOWS) and then follow the instructions I have attached to this explanation. Hope the picture can be enlarged so it can be viewed.
The main thing you have to do is to remove/delete the entry entitled
First download and install the latest drivers for Windows Vista. Then try connecting the printer.
