Question about GE Energy Star WCVH6260F Front Load Washer

1 Answer

GE Washer won't spin

The washer will make one rotation clock-wise and one rotation counter-clockwise when the cycle begins. It will then stop, unlock the door & then lock the door again. It will never spin again during the cycle. The drum spins easily by hand & there is no noise from the motor. There is no oil on the belt & it is not broken. There seems to be no mechanical problems other than it won't spin. It appears to be electronic, perhaps a sensor? Please help!

I also have the same exact problem with mine and the machine is only 1 year 1/2 old, I call GE about this problem but all they want to do is have me spend $100 dollards so a technician can come and see what the problem is, God knows how much it would cost me to fix it,all I can tell you is, that I would not buy a GE product ever again for as long as I live, I can buy a brand new washer from Sears for the money that would cost me to fix this peace of china made junk.

    Best regards

We have a GE model GBVH5 front loader (bought Aug 07) with a similar problem. It usually occurs after you've done one load (because the machine gets a bit of moisture inside it?). Machine tries to run but seems as though door lock sensor is faulty - keeps locking and unlocking door, cycle doesn't start. Or it gets to within 1 minute of completing cycle and freezes up. In both circumstances the "door locked" indicator stays lit (but door is not actually locked). Solution is to unplug machine and wait a day or 2 until it seems to reset (dries out?). Just had a service tech here who guessed door lock sensor and is going to get back to me with proposed fix - I'll update. P.S. problem is NOT the hidden pump filter mentioned by others since I've cleaned it out previously.

I believe your problem is a clogged drain hose.  If the pump can't pump anything out of the tub during the spin cycle, the machine doesn't complete the cycle.  Using a phillips head screwdriver, unscrew the three screws across the bottom of the machine, just above floor level.  Remove the panel and look for the 2" drain plug on the right - it's white plastic.  Now, if you have a shop vac, get it out and get ready to **** up all the water that drains out of the tube when you remove the plug.  Alternatively, you can use a bunch of towels.  More than a gallon will come out.  Clean any of the **** out of the screen attached to the drain plug and look for any debris in the tube in which the plug screws into.  This should fixya.

I have a GE washer which the agitator and tub do not spin. I can turn both freely by hand. The belt is in tact. During the cycle, the motor just osillates a minute amount in both the clock and counter...

it might be the safety switch under the door.
it is a switch that will not allow the spin cycle to spin unless the door is closed - like when you look in your washer while its spinning and as soon as you open the door the spinning stops until you shut the door again.
if its damaged it will not allow the spin cycle to work.
try look under the lid.
costs around $3.00 put in with a screw driver good luck

Loud banging noise during washing cycle. Sounds like agitator is slipping, then banging. No noise during spinning cycles.

Grab the agitator at the base and attempt to rotate it clockwise and counter clock wise. It should remain firmly in place. If there is movement the agitator spline is worn.

This is your Agitator:

http://www.repairclinic.com/Appliance-Parts?s=t-WBSR3140DW-%3d%3dc201

It does not come with the fabric dispenser. It has to be ordered seperately. You should be able to transfer you old one to the new one if you do have to replace the agitator.

Besides the agitator the drive bell can also be the source of the noise. It is located under the agitator.

http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-WBSR3140DW-%3d%3dc239i1195917&PartID=1195917

This part is the most likely cause of the noise.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Ge super capacity plus washer. Mod wlse3150a0ww. no matter what setting it always starts on rinse then goes to spin.It also will not drain.

If the washer is stopped mid cycle it will default to rinse and spin. It will then get stuck in a loop. It is necessary to reset the electronics. Unplug the electrical cord from the unit. Wait 30 seconds. Turn the cycle selector all the way around clockwise. Turn it again and set it on any setting accept rinse or spin. Plug the unit in. It should begin a new cycle and be working normally.

My GE Wizard Washer will agitate or spin for a very short time.

replace the transmission. this job is better done after a few dozen bottle of your favorite whiskey. Check the timer controls to ensure timer is advancing properly. tranny's are notorious on ge's for this sort of problem as well as inner basket drive blocks coming loose. ge makes alot of great appliances, this just happens to be one of them that isn't. i trust their jet engines too, although hard to work on them from 30,000ft.

Will not spin, therefore will not drain

Hey Joe,
Let’s check to see if the wash basket will rotate CCW in Spin Only Cycle with no clothes in the wash basket
1. Open the lid and rotate the wash basket by hand Counter Clockwise, CCW. The wash basket should rotate freely with no restriction. The wash basket will not rotate Clockwise, CW by hand.

2. Raise the top of the machine. Insert a flat blade putty knife approximately 2.5” from the left and right sides of the washer top, depress the spring tabs securing machine top to the washer base. Raise the top of the machine to observe the wash basket and tumbler action described in step 3. (See page 33 of the Service Manual for putty knife insertion point).

3. With the top raised start a Spin Only cycle with no clothes in the wash basket, observe the wash basket it should begin to rotate CCW does it?. Watch the tumblers, they should not rotate in spin cycle (maybe ½ turn at the start of spin cycle and that’s all). If the tumblers rotate while the wash basket is rotating you have a clutch malfunction. If the basket does spin CCW and the tumblers are rotating then you have a broken clutch spring. Let do those checks and observations and see what the next troubleshooting steps will be. Rich

The neptune TL model 6800AWW makes a terrible noise at what seems to be the end of the wash cycle. Is this a rebalance? Because it sounds like metal against metal. Or could this be a belt issue. The...

Hello acelmo3,

Thank you for the model number, can you give me the first two digits of your serial number. That number is located on the back right side of the console. I only need the first two digits.10, 12, 16,,,etc.

Let's try to troubleshoot the grinding noise issue, You mention the spin cycle. Have you taken any dc or UC errors in spin cycle? Can you try the following and let me know what you find?

1. Open the lid and rotate tie wash basket by hand Counter Clock Wise, CCW. The wash basket should rotate freely with no restriction. The wash basket will not rotate Clock Wise, CW by hand.

2. Raise the top of the machine. Insert a flat blade putty knife approximately 2.5” from the left and right sides of the washer top, depress the spring tabs securing machine top to the washer base. Raise the top of the machine to observe the wash basket and tumbler action described in step 2. (See page 33 of the Service Manual for putty knife insertion point). Also see pic attached.

3. With the top raised start a Spin Only cycle with no clothes in the wash basket, observe the wash basket it will begin to rotate CCW. Watch the tumblers, they should not rotate in spin cycle (maybe ½ turn at the start of spin cycle and that’s all). If the tumblers rotate while the wash basket is rotating you have a clutch malfunction and the Spin Cycle will fail with dc/UC errors. If this is not the situation move on to step 3. This is what I refer to as a soft failure and possible clean up of the clutch roller bearings in the clutch hub may restore normal clutch operation. A hard failure would be the clutch spring has failed, the roller bearings are rusted beyond clean up. A replacement clutch is required.

Pic attached for top cover removal .

Let me know if you see the tumblers rotating in Spin Only cycle and if yo hear the grinding noise. Rich

GE washer model WHDSR209

On some models, the drive motor is universal meaning the drive turns clockwise in wash mode and turns counter clockwise in spin mode.
Possibly the motor windings is defective for the wash mode and thus the entire drive motor will require replacing.
Hope this helps..
