Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

Problems Dealing With the Controllers and Memory Card Unit

I have quite a weird problem. I just got my Xbox 360 back from the red ring problem about 2 months ago. Since then, I had no problems with my 360. I thought all the problems were over. My sister was playing Silent Hill Homecoming Today on the 20th of October and the system froze. She turned it off and then turned it back on to try it again. Everything seemed normal except the fact that the controllers stopped responding. I thought she didn't know how to use the sync buttons so I gave it a shot. No luck. The controllers just kept blinking. My cousin told me he thought I could reset the console by holding the power button, so I tried it. I was worried my memory card files could get erased so I removed it before I tried this. The controllers worked when I turned it on and did that. I was excited and thought my problem was solved. Then I put my memory card back in and now it doesn't even respond. And every time I try to turn on a controller with the memory card it, it don't respond as well. And vise versa. So now all my memory on the memory card can't be used since it doesn't respond. Can somebody help me? Is there a place I can send this memory card to to make it work again? I dunno. I'm just stuck. May I assure you I don't abuse any of my equipment and my memory card has worked perfectly since I bought it over a year ago. I'm sorry this explanation is so long, though I figured people would be able to help me more if they knew the whole story.

To add to cappishadow's comment. I'm not a *******. The first thing I did was press the sync buttons to reconnect the controllers. That didn't work. That's why I said this was a "weird" situation. My controllers don't work when my memory card is in the system and now my memory card doesn't show up. It happened suddenly for no reason and I need to know if I can get that fixed without losing 3 years worth of memory that I've have on that memory card. I don't have my warranty anymore since Microsoft took it when I sent the system back for repairs on the 3 red ring problem. My 360 was insured until the end of this year.

What do i do if a red ring comes on the xbox

This problem depends on how many red lights there are. The problems can be from a corrupt hard drive, to an overheated console. In this solution, I will mention all problems, and solutions.

1 Red Ring means hardware failure in your Xbox console. It can also mean hard drive corruption. There are multiple solutions to this problem. Turn off your console and unplug every single cord, cable, and memory device on your console. Wait about twenty seconds, and plug everything back in into it's origanal spot, and make sure everything is connected correctly. If the problem still occurs, try unplugging the console's hard drive, then turn on your Xbox 360. If your console then works after this, it could mean your hard drive is corrupt, or broken. Make sure to also disconnect all other memory units out of your console, such as a memory card. If the problem continues, contact Microsoft Support at the following link.

http://www.xbox.com/support/contact

2 Red Rings means that your Xbox 360 console is overheating. Overheating is a common problem with Xbox 360 consoles. Turn off your Xbox console. Make sure it is in a roomy spot, and not near a heated spot. Also make sure it is not on top of a towel, or anyplace cluttered. As seen here,

natesprague6_4.jpg NEVER cool off a Xbox 360 in a refridgerator, or freezer. This may cause further problems to your console.

3 Red Rings means there is a hardware problem, or something wrong with your power supply. To solve this, make sure the color on your power supply is always orange, when your Xbox 360 is off. Also make sure the color is always GREEN when it is on. If it is RED when you turn your Xbox on, try unplugging every cord, cable, and memory device on your console, and plugging it back in about 20 seconds after, and make sure all plugs are connected securely into it's socket. If this does not resolve your issue, contact Microsoft support at the link at the following link,

http://www.xbox.com/support/contact

4 Red Rings indicates that there is no audio/video plugs detected from your AV plug. This is a simple problem to fix. Make sure all plugs are connected firmly into the correct color sockets on your TV. The following colors are the ones that need to be plugged in a Flat Screen TV,
2 Red, 1 Green, 1 Blue, 1 White. As seen here,

natesprague6_5.jpg Although, on a small, old TV, you usually only need to connect the yellow, and white cables. Make sure if you're using an old TV that does not support HD, switch the AV cable to 'TV', if it is switched to 'HD'. If this does not work, you may have to buy a new AV cable.

I hope this helped you, and the Fixya community! Contact me if you're still having trouble!

My uncle has a banned axbox aand we put are memury card in and then he toold us that his xbox was banned and then we went back to my house and it say it corupted

The problem is possibly your memory card. Some memory cards can be corrupt, and effect your Xbox 360 console if plugged in. Disconnect any memory units such as your memory card, then turn on your console. If the problem continues, please respond back saying if there are any red rings on your Xbox 360. If there is not, it is your memory card.

We can not connect the controlers to the xbox 360 but they will connect to others can you help with this problem??? we recently got it fixed because it had a red ring

Turn your system on and turn the controllers on, when the controllers are blinking the four green lights, press the small white button to the right of the second memory card slot. The 4 green rings around the power button with rotate clockwise. Now press the small white button next to the left bumper on the controller. Both the system rings and the ones on the controller will blink in unison and that controller will be connected to that system. Repeat for as many controllers as you have. Hope this helps.

My Xbox 360 (which is around 18 months old) wont connect to the controllers anymore. I have tried 2 normal controllers and 2 GH guitars, none with succes. Xbox resetted, batteries taken in and out,...

There are links that show you how to repair this issue yourself (but they are not very clear and every thing is very fragile inside the XBOX 360) or you can contact me via email at mycharminglife@gmail.com and we can discuss the issue further as I recently repaired my XBOX 360 with the same issues and it works better than when was brand new. It takes and electronics engineer to repair properly.

I bought another Xbox 360 a few months ago, and for some reason, the wireless controllers take a couple minutes to connect. This happens for both my old controller and new controller, even if they're...

First Check the batteries ,I'm sure you did this all ready.
Second is the RF module AKA ring of lights has a weak transceiver.
This module is simple to replace affter the removl of the case and
three screws on the module itself . Then just plug and play with the
new module . They cost around 10.00-20.00 from many suppliers.

If you have any question feel free to ask.

Red light

Try the following to resolve the problem:
  1. Turn off your Xbox 360 console, disconnect and reconnect all cables, and then turn your Xbox 360 console back on. If this step doesn't resolve the problem, try step 2.
  2. Turn off the console, and then disconnect any connected accessories, such as controllers, Xbox 360 memory units, and the Xbox 360 hard disk. With these accessories removed, restart the console to see whether the problem persists and to pinpoint whether it is the console or an accessory. If this step doesn't resolve the problem, try step 3.
  3. If you continue to experience the problem, contact Xbox Customer Service. If the Xbox Customer Service agent cannot help you resolve the problem, you may have to return your Xbox 360 console to Microsoft for repair.
This is usually the similar sort of problem to what causes the 3rrod (3 red rings of death) and can be fixed by trying the above or by re-heating the mainboard with a heat gun and this in turn will reseat the solder point. we also fix this error www.fixmyconsole.co.uk

I keep getting three red rings in the part where it shows how may controllers are playing and i can't get any of my games to play or my controllers to work

Three lights flash red on the Ring of Light (RoL) on the front of your Xbox 360 console. The upper-right quadrant light is the only light that does not flash red. The three flashing red lights may indicate that there is a hardware problem with your Xbox 360 console.

You can try one or two things.

1. Turn on your xbox and check to see if the power supply light is green. If it is green there is a problem with the system. If it is red it means you should check your connections and restart the xbox.

2. These rings have a tendency of meaning that there is a problem with the system itself. Most companies sell extra insurance to cover this "ROL" Ring of life. You can contact Microsoft by calling them. The number is usually listed on the back of the video game booklets.

I wish you the best and I hope this resolved your problem

Xbox 360 red light

Repair Xbox 360 - 3 Red Lights 3-red-lights.jpg
James at joystiq fixed his own 360 that was flashing three red lights, which indicates an internal error.
If you have this problem try to fix it yourself before sending the unit in.
1) Remove your hard drive and/or memory units.
2) Run “Initial Setup” under the system blade.
3) Decline inserting HDD or memory unit when prompted.
4) Sync your controller and pop in a game.
It might save your xbox 360 a repair return.
