Question about Sony KP-53HS10 TV
There are a series of cap and transistors that need to be changed, so if you are not familiar with soldering and component replacement then you may have to have someone do this for you.

A few weeks ago my set started flashing to a black screen. Now a couple of weeks later, i have no picture, but the set turns on and i have sound. The standby light is flashing. I purchased the set in 2000 so it is seven years old. This is the first problem. Could it be all three of the bulbs? Could it be all three of the bulbs? no as you say that sound is ok that means your power supply &high voltage section is ok. please check chroma ic luminance section or system control section stand by ckt ihanks

Can you let me know how many times that light blinks on your TV? There would be a small interval between blinks and then big interval.

Had this problem ages ago with my sony kv-29,cost £45 to have some soldering work done on it because some soldered joints had gone dry(broke) on circuit board.I took it to a sony dealer, but should be able to be done by anyone who specialises in sony repairs.Worth doing as it is a very good tv.

count the number of blinks; you may have to unplug the set and try to turn on again--if it does not blink in a sequence(3 blinks, a pause etc) the set is in shutdown and many things can cause this.
