You can try to use a different usb port of your computer check if it will be detected or try to plugged a different usb device see if it will be detected by the computer. If you have a different computer try to check if it will be detected. If the computer detects a different device it only means that the hard drive that you are connecting to the computer is faulty.
There's a big chance here that the problem is not with the USB cable but with the USB port of your computer or with the printer itself, first that you can do here is to try connecting the printer on a different SUB port on your computer and check if it will be detected now by he computer but if still not better if you can try this printer to a different computer and check if it will be detected because if it will be detected on different computer so the problem is with the USB port of your computer. In a point that the printer will still not be detected by different computer so the problem here is with the printer itself and the printer needs servicing already.
If the camera is not detected by the computer what you can try here is to try connecting the camera on a different USB port and check if it will be detected , but if still not detected if possible for you to try a different USB cable that will be better or if possible also try to connect the camera on a different computer so we can isolate the problem if its just the USB cable , the USB port or the camera itself that is bad...
Do you see a message on your system tray when it is plugged in? If you don't see any message, it means that the drive is not being detected. You can't retrieve any data or files on the thumb drive if it is not detected. Things you can try to isolate the problem:
1. Try a different USB port on your computer. Check if your thumb drive will be detected.
2. Try a different USB device like mouse on your USB port. If it is detected, it means that the problem is the thumb drive. If not, it means that the USB port is not working or is disabled.
First thing to do here is to try connecting the camera on a different USB port on the computer if its a tower connect the camera on the back USB port of it, if still not detected try connecting the camera on another computer and check if it will be detected , If still not detected the problem here can be with the USB cable that you're using so better try a different USB cable...
I use to have that little player and i remember how it could be tricky on different computers.
If these don't work please report back: 4. If the Zen is not detected by or charging from the computer when connected,
make sure you are using a USB port on the back of the computer (built
into the motherboard) instead of one wired to the case (front or side).
That way you are using a USB port with the proper power output.
5. If the Zen is not detected by or charging from the computer when connected,
make sure the USB port you are using are USB 2.0 and not v1.1. If you
computer is a newer computer, this shouldn't be a problem, but if it is
an older computer, it may only have USB 1.1 ports which doesn't output
enough power as USB 2.0 ports.
6. If the Zen is not detected by or charging from the computer when connected,
make sure you have no other USB devices plugged into the computer
(front and back ports), but the Zen. That may be worth a try to see if
you can get enough current from the USB ports to begin charging it
again. Usually the more devices you have plugged into the USB ports,
the less current that will be available for charging due to the power
being shared with all other devices plugged in.
7. If the Zen is not detected by or charging from the computer when connected,
make sure that the drivers are loading for it properly under Device
Manager (no conflicts showing). I believe the Zen will not be detected
or begin charging unless its drivers are loaded and working properly.
