Question about Protron PD-800 DVD Player
Your solution is exactly right. I switched the DVD/VCR from my 27" SDTV to my 46" LCD HDTV and it works perfectly!!!! I never could figure out how to get it off the progressive scan setting on the DVD/VCR itself, but switching tv's fixed my problem. However, if someone has the owner's manual and can post how to get it off prog scan, please post in case someone else needs it on a 480i standard tv. THANKS FOR THE INFO!!!!!!

I dropped the remote and the same thing happened. I had to reset everything using reset button on remote (by trial and error) using the manual. I highlighted the correct settings in case it happend again.

Scrolling/black-and-white/"out of tracking" display on a DVD player is generally caused by the DVD player being switched into Progressive Scan mode on a TV not capable of viewing that content. Scan the remote for a button labeled Progressive, I/P, P.Scan, or anything similar. Scan the user manual for information on resetting this also. If the manual and remote come up dry, call Protron and see if there's a key combo you can hold to reset that. Often, holding Play for 5-10 seconds will reset to standard (Interlaced) mode, or holding Stop while turning the unit on. Sometimes, holding Display on the remote for a few seconds will also switch this setting. Good luck.
