Syntax Olevia 30" LCD - blue screen, then black screen, sound is on

Issue with my Syntax Olevia - When I power it on, the blue screen turns black. The sound is still working. Anyone see this before?

yep, same problem here after about 31/2 years of use. picture will go black. have to turn it off and back on. works for a few more minutes then black again. usually only in mornings and evenings does it have this problem. can work for 6-8 hours without going black. then when it does, 4-5 times of restarting and its back to normal.

if the picture is still there just in wierd colors is it still a blown inverter??

  • gopher1515 Jan 06, 2009

if the screen is there just in blue and red and dark colors... example: i can see that it is a basketball game and see the players outlines but I can't make out anything other than that... if this is what is happening is it still a blown inverter?

You have a broken inverter board. I have a LT30HV, and it had the same problem. The inverter board supplies power to the backlight. Swap it out with a good one, and you're back in business.

To test, take a bright flashlight and point it at the screen just an inch or so off the surface. If you can see your picture, then you have a blown inverter.

it may not be worth fixing it. Wait for a good sale on a new one. My inverter cost about 150, and it was a remanufactured part. Not as good as the original part as it flickers just a tad. I had to take the entire TV apart, with pieces literally everywhere. My cats loved it.

My syntax Olevia LT30 HV turned on and displayed blue screen for 1-3 sec and than no signal nosound??any advice seems to be inverter issue.

Since you lost both sound and picture, I would suggest to take a look at the power supply for bad filter capacitors, look for bulging on the top of capacitors. If the backlight inverter board is bad you should still get the sound.

Syntax olevia lt32hv 32 inch lcd tv. power surge now no picture

The electronics are known to go bad with these TV's, and I'm looking to buy someone's junk TV that has a good screen, rather than have to throw it out.
(So if anyone is out there with a 532-B12 that isn't working, send me a message!)

Yours might be worth fixing - however I know sadly that parts are nearly impossible to get for these TV's, and the manufacturer is virtually impossible to contact.
If you DO manage to contact anyone (manufacturer or otherwise) who can source or supply parts, PLEASE do let me know - it's been nearly impossible for me, and I want to replace my cracked screen in my TV.
If you can't, please let me know - I'll gladly give you a few bucks at least to salvage the screen from your TV, to transplant into mine, rather than turning it into junk on your curb.
