Dude, Can you send me a Bootable ISO CD of Dell Asset/Service Tag BIOS Reset Tool........Please

Hello, you can download this tool here:

Dell

The official method is to contact Dell Technical Support. Dell Technical Support will request the Service Tag and Express Service Code from the bottom of the Latitude. If the current user is not the original Latitude owner, Dell will transfer the used Latitude's registration from the original owner with only the Service Tag and Express Service Code from the tag on the laptop.

  • For most Dell Dimension desktops, the steps to reset a BIOS password and clear all CMOS settings are:
    • Locate the 3-pin CMOS password reset jumper on the system board.
    • Remove the jumper plug from pins 1 and 2.
    • Place the jumper plug on pins 2 and 3 and wait approximately 5 seconds.
    • Replace the jumper plug on pins 1 and 2.

Try the backdoor password: Dell

The another method is: by Using the Motherboard Jumper: In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off, and remove the battery and power cord
( if it is a laptop ) before you continue.

Here is a picture how it looks like:

The default setting is:pin 1 to 2, to clear cmos: 2 to 3.

Best of luck :-)

I need to change the motherboard battery on Dell 8100 laptop

sometimes there will be a compartment that can access the cmos battery sometimes not. This guide will show you in pic # 4 what the cmos battery looks like. If you look around the sit for a while you may find your specific laptop. I just don't have the time to look now.
Hope this helps.

DELL 8100 HASENT BEEN USED IN A COUPLE OF YEARS PLUGGED IT IN AND ALL I GET IS A FLASHING YELLOW LIGHT

1. check the CMOS battery and replace it
If it shows 3.5 or lower then it is in need of replacement and you board should work
if not a new mother board is needed.
2. check your power supply unit it may need replacement as well.
I hope this helps. Have a great day!

I have a dell 8100 inspiron that have soft ware issues, what do i need to do? when i turn the computer on it's reading, windows could not start because the following files is missing or corrupt...

Do you have a windows disc to repair the problem, If not then you need to find one unless your computer came with a back-up on a partition and in that case you would loose all your info, If there is nothing important on the pc thats the way i would go

My dell inspiron 1520 does not work at all, power

no this is not a defect this would indicate that the power supply has failed on your pc.. look at the back of the unit if the power supply light is amber in color or blinking thne there is your issue.

No power. No lights. Dimension 8100. No response to the power button.

One of two things.
A) The Power Supply
B) the Motherboard.

The power supply is easy to troubleshoot. For little to nothing you should be able to take the power supply into a computer repair place and ask them to hook it up to a tester. It's real quick and simple. All they do is plug your 20 or 24 pin power cable that attaches to the motherboard to a box. It checks the power outputs of the power supply to let you know if any of the voltages are not present or way out of wack.

Dimension 8100 Power on reset

go back to where you did this ... "after leaving the power on for some time (>30 min.) I tried un plugging the AC cord and immediately plugged it in and got POST and BIOS setup and a good bood to a known good hard drive. Left it on for 3 days running AutoCAD, ran reliably."... do that again, but this time, leave the pc on and turn it off using the hibernate feature (must enable it first) as a test of potential faults.
