Unfortunately, you cannot repair one element of a dual burner. It all comes as one unit. When one portion of a dual or triple element goes bad, you must replace the whole element. I believe the part number is 1032746 and runs about $70. You will have to lift the glass top to access the burner elements. If you decide to pursue this on your own follow these steps: 1. Unplug range and/or turn off main breaker. 2. Open oven door to access screws under front edge of cooktop. Remove two screws and the top should tilt up. 3. The top will not stay up on it's own, so you will need some assistance holding it up. Some ranges have a couple of disconnect plugs that you can unplug, so you remove the entire top and lay it somewhere to work on. If this is the case with yours (as I suspect it is), lay some soft towels down on the kitchen table or counter top and lay the cooktop upside down. This will make it much easier to work on. 4. Remove affected element by disconnecting the wires first. You may want to write down how they came off, so you can be sure to reconnect them in the right order. 5. Remove mounting brackets holding element in place. Pay particular attention to the numbering scheme on the bottom of the element and where the brackets are mounted. The new element usually doesn't come with new brackets which means you have to take the brackets off the old element and put them on the new element. Make sure you install them in the same numbered holes as they were located before. 6. Reconnect wires and reinstall cooktop, making sure you reconnect the disconnect plugs if equipped. Now, be careful when working on the cooktop while it is upside down. Make sure you don't apply too much pressure on the glass or you could crack it. Also, use extreme care NOT to touch the element surface as the oils from you hands can cause hot spots and effectively ruin it. The bake light material in which the element is mounted is also very fragile. DO NOT put to much pressure on it or it may crack and break. Once you get the cooktop reinstalled and power reapplied, op test it to make sure BOTH elements are working. It is normal to see a little bit of sparking at first with new elements and/or an odor. Test the entire range of the element and make sure it regulates like it should. I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: Help in Removing Frigidaire Smooth Cooktop Burner

What holds the spring assembly onto the bar assembly is just two small prongs. Use a pliers on the end that protrudes through the bar, squeezing the prongs together, and it should come out fairly easily.

SOURCE: Dual element burner on glasstop range...inner element stays on

It is the burner control (behind the knob). The triac in the control has failed. $50 item, 10 minute change. Just make note which wire goes to which terminal.

I doubt that it is the control board, as the board has little to do with the stove top, but rather controls the display and the oven temperature/feedback monitoring.

Hope this helps.

Front right burner under stove top model 62960002603 only heats to LOW heat. It has a single, dual, triple mode setting and will not heat up to highest setting. HELP.

I looked up the model number you gave. It is a Kenmore range. The part number for that element is 7406P494-60. When you say it only heats to low, do you mean that only the center portion of the element lights up? Normally, when this occurs, it is an indication that the middle element and outer elements have a break. The problem could also be a faulty infinite switch(burner control). The part for that particular control is 7450P011-60. You will need a voltage/ohm meter to troubleshoot further. This can be a very INVOLVED repair attempt. I recommend, that if you're not comfortable disassembling your unit, call for service--this can absolutely be a tricky diagnosis and much care is needed to not damage the glass cooktop when checking the element. I hope I helped you.

Frigidaire stove front large/small burner combination. Large burner works but the small burner in the centre of the large burner does not come on at all with any heat. ??

This is a inner/outer burner type assembly? Sounds like a glass top.
Either way, your switch for that burner or the burner needs to be replaced.
If you are able and it is possible, inter change switches to see if it makes a difference. Interchange Large with large, small with small.
If yous switches are connected as one unit, you will not be able to do this. Sorry, I have not looked up your wiring diagram.

My large burner does not heat up fully...the outside ring does not heat, only the inside, is this a fuse issue and where do I find the fuses?

Hello,
The problem with that is going to either be the outer ring of the burner burnt out OR the control sitch for that burner. THier is no fuse for the burners, the switch for that dual burner is part number 74003122,the part the dual burner is 12002144

it could be purchased at your local appliance parts store or online at;

Heating elements on stove top stopping heating

To test the heating element, do the following steps:
First, disconnect the heating element from the stovetop. In most cases, this is done by lifting up the burner on the side opposite of the terminals (the part of the burner that disappears under the stovetop). Remove the decorative ring.

Inspect the style of connection. If the burner element has visible blades that fit into the receptacle block, pinch the block with one hand, and pull the heating element free with your other hand. If the terminal block clamps over the element, the housing must be removed and the burner wires disconnected. Unsnap the metal piece or remove the screw that secures the receptacle block and then disconnect the element.

Inspect the heating element. If you find bubbles, warping, or damage to the insulation sheath, the burner must be replaced. If the terminals are dirty or corroded, this can cause poor temperature control, intermittent problems or complete failure to heat. Clean the terminals with steel wool or very fine sand paper to restore good conductivity.

Burner seems to be wired backwards

You have to access the underside of the cook top. Does the back right work correctly? If so switch the wires on the back left to match the right burner.

The two large burners will not turn on, it started with just the inner burner on the dual size (the switch showed it on but it did not heat) now neither front burner switch will turn on

you are going to have to buy a new burner part. if you are able to open the stove top and look closely at the element inside you should notice that somewhere along the lines of teeth, it has broken.

Dual element burner not working

You have to use a voltmeter and test the voltage where the wires connect to the element. If you have voltage (probably 240volts) then the switch is good.

You then remove the element, and check it with an ohm meter to verify that the element is open.

Sounds like the switch to me, but you have to check it

Electric range surface light stays on

When the burner went, it took out the switch that controls it. The contacts inside the switch have welded together. That switch needs to be replaced. You should also look at the receptacle that the burner plus into. That may have been the original cause of all the problems. The contacts in them often wear causing the burner to src inside the receptacle. These parts should be readily available from Sears: burner control (infinie) switch, Burner receptacle.

Replacing a radiant element on a maytag glass top range I'm having strange problems with the two right elements of my MER5770 The front larger dual element will only operate at high heat. When turning on...

If the burner is scorched or pitted, go ahead and replace it. New burners can cost anywhere from $10 to $40. Otherwise, check the burner's electrical connections to make sure there is solid contact. Jiggle the burner in its socket. If it is loose, then remove the burner—most just pull out of the electrical socket, although some are mounted with a screw. (Always unplug the range before removing a burner.) Slightly spread the two terminals apart for a tighter connection. If it still doesn't work, then replace the faulty burner with a functioning burner of the same size. If that burner works, then replace the bad burner with a new one. If it doesn't, then inspect the electrical socket for damage. If it's charred, replace the socket. To do so, remove the screws that secure the socket to the range and then unscrew the range wires. Attach the wire connections of the new socket to the range wires and reassemble the burner.
