My iphone won't sync with itunes. it did at first but now keeps coming up with an error I have an original iphone, never been jailbroken or any such thing, and can not currently get it to sync with itunes (8.0.1). Never had a problem previously. Itunes recognizes the phone and starts to sync but nothing beyond that happens. Iv'e tried restore, reset and even reinstalled itunes to no avail. Any thoughts? Thanks

Anybody have any thoughts regarding my iphone issue? Thanks in advance

  • mammd Oct 21, 2008

I'm on Leopard (OS 10.5, up to date). No firewalls or antivirus software on my computer. Thanks

Thanks voodoomax. I attempted your suggestion but, alas, I'm back in the same position again - continuous attempts at syncing without any progress whatsoever.

I've already reinstalled the latest software update again. I only have one computer with which to connect.

Recharge
Make sure iPhone is charged. Connect to a USB port and look for the lightning bolt battery icon in the upper right. If you don't see this icon, then iPhone is not charging. The battery will charge to 80% in an hour.
Note: If you put your computer into sleep mode while iPhone is connected via USB, iPhone may not charge.

This screen means to keep iPhone connected so it continues charging. Please note:
If iPhone is not sufficiently charged it will not show up in iTunes
Use a high-power USB port such as the one on your computer, or use your iPhone AC adapter.
Don't use the USB port on your keyboard because it is a low-power port and iPhone will not charge.
Make sure you are using USB to charge. Accessories that use FireWire to charge are not supported with iPhone.
If you see the red part of the battery image flash three times and then the screen goes black, it means that iPhone is not receiving power to charge.

If the above steps dont resolve follow the following steps :
Retry with a different USB port.
Note:
Don't use the USB port on your keyboard because it is a low-power port and iPhone will not charge.

If the above steps dont resolve follow the following steps :
Restart

Try restarting iPhone. To turn it off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Does iPhone appear frozen or stuck? Try pressing and holding the Home button for at least 6 seconds to close a frozen application. Then try restarting iPhone again.

Note: If that doesn't work, try restarting your computer.
If the above steps dont resolve follow the following steps :
Reinstall

Reinstall iTunes 7.7 or later.
Get the latest version of iTunes (7.3 or later) from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Thanks.

This may be a common thing with the new itunes, anyway, look for the authorization and then authorize your iPhone and that should sync the devices. if not then just turn out auto-sync on, unplug replug he iPhones and then wait until it syncs.

hope this helped you out, should you have other questions just lemme know

HOW DO I DOWNLOAD MUSIC?

You can attach your phone to your PC via the appropriate cable (usually USB cable into your pc and the other end into your phone).
- Click on iTunes or download it from Apple Apps.
- Your phone should show up on the far left column of iTunes eg:
Administrator's iPhone - click on it.
- You will now see headings at the top which refer to your phone
- Click on music
- It is easy is you have created "Playlists" in iTunes. These should now show up on the music tab of your Administrator's iPhone which you saw it on the left side column of iTunes.
- Tick the box of the "Playlists" you see on the music tab displaying your phone in iTunes.
- Now click "Sync" bottom right of iTunes
- All the songs in the iTunes playlists will now be transferred to your phone. You can see them on your phone under the Music icon.
NOTE: If you need to see a demo.of the above do a Google search like this on a PC.
Type in the following:
youtube+how to+put music onto+a mobile phone - Now press enter and you will see many videos you can click on which will actually show you what to do. To be more precise, enter the name and model of your actual phone instead of "a mobile phone" eg: iPhone 4.
- Remember you can press the Pause button (looks like this - II) on any youtube video so you can go step by step with what the video is showing you.
Let us all know how you go and please be so kind as to tick the "Helpful" box if it got you on the right track it is rewarding for me to know I helped at least 1 person. Good luck, Chris

My iphone wont rebbot

have you tried this?
  1. Reset the iPhone by holding the sleep/wake button at the top right of the device and the home button at the bottom center of the face at the same time.
  2. Hold them both until you see the screen go black. In some cases, you may need to keep holding them even after the red power off slider appears. If it does, just keep holding it.
  3. Wait until the white Apple logo appears.
  4. When this happens, you can let go - the iPhone is rebooting.
If this doesn't work, connect it to the computer with iTunes and restore the software.

I erased all content and settings on my jailbroken iphone 3g and now its stuck on the start up screen

Plug the iphone into your computer and restore the phone using itunes. If the computer won't recognize the phone put it in DFU mode by doing the following.
1. Hold the lock/unlock button for 10 seconds. 2. Continue holding the lock/unlock button and also hold the home button for 10 seconds. 3. Release the lock/unlock button and continue holding the home button for 10 seconds.
After the connect to itunes screen appears on the phone, plug it in and attempt to restore again.
