Hi,

To my knowledge, there are only three (3) possible sources for the car radio code:

  • printed on the user's manual of the vehicle. In some cases, on the radio manual;
  • leftover assembly tech markings such as on a piece of maskin tape under the ashtray, in the glove compartment, under the dash, in the fuse holder cover, center console;
  • the original dealer of the vehicle. They normally would require VIN and proof of purchase.
Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Look for a sticker in the glove box
if it is not there, you have to take it to the dealership.

I need a code for my Misubishi Infinity radio in my 1996 eclispe. Can I get a code without having to remove the radio?

Hello.. I am sorry to hear you are having a problem. Unfortunately, you will have to have the radio removed to retrieve the code. Once you have removed the radio, you will need to write down the serial number to the radio and contact the service department at a Mitsubishi dealership. They can give you your radio code with the radio serial number. Some dealerships charge for this service and some do it as a free courtesy. Hope this helped! Good luck with your venture.

I have mitsubishi mirage 2000 my car stereo is antitheft it needs a code to go back on i bought used and cant get contact from the person i end up buying it from can you help me.

I recently changed the battery in my car, and now my radio display indicates 'CODE' or 'OFF' and the radio is not working. What do I need to do?

As part of the radio's anti-theft system on some older model year vehicles (2002 and older), the radio resets itself whenever it loses power from the vehicle's battery. Radio security codes are associated with each individual radio unit rather than the vehicle identification number (VIN) (since a vehicle could have the radio replaced). The radio security code must be input in the radio in order for the radio to work.

When you purchased your vehicle, you should have received a card that lists the four digit security code for the radio. If you are unable to locate this card (sometimes owners find it inserted in the Owner's Manual or glove box), the radio will need to be removed so that you can locate the Part Number and Serial Number for your specific radio. The Part Number typically begins with the letters 'MR' and the Serial Number is generally a string of digits and both numbers can be located on the audit unit's chassis.

Please contact your local Authorized Mitsubishi Dealer if you need assistance removing the radio. Once the Part Number and the Serial Number are in hand, your Dealer can access the security code for that radio. You may also contact our Customer Relations Call Center at 1-888-MITSU2011 (1-888-648-7820) and one of our agents will be happy to provide you with the security code and steps to reset the radio as long as you have the Part Number and Serial Number for your radio unit. Agents are available Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (PT).

Need 1998 montero sport radio reset code

GETTING THE RADIO SERIAL NUMBER: <BR>
2000 - Carefully take the front panel off that surrounds the radio and temperature buttons, it will snap straight out. Wiggle the radio out about two inches, it is a tight fit. Get the serial number off the radio. It is on a sticker on the top, left side. Call a Mitsubishi dealer with the serial number. They will want proof of ownership, so have the title ready. After putting in the four digit serial number, hit the cd button and that enters it.The code is also written on an antitheft card that comes with the car and may be written in the owners manual in one of the back pages.
<BR> 1999 - Carefully remove the cup holder by pulling it out, then you will see the sticker with the radio serial number.
<BR> Other Years - I don't know an easy way to get the radio serial number, find a radio install savy person and ask them to help you. My dealership said they would do it for me and charge me for 30-60 mins worth of labor.. (At $75/hour) <BR> <BR>
RADIO SAYS "OFF" OR "LOCK": <BR>
Leave the "off" display on for 1 hour uninterupted, then it will automatically reset back to UNLOCK CODE.
<BR> When you turn it back on again after that time has passed it will ask for "code". <BR> <BR>
RADIO SAYS "UNLOCK CODE:" <BR>
Call your local MItsubishi dealership and ask for the service department.
<BR>They have a computer program where they punch in the serial number from your radio (you have to supply the number) and it will tell them the UNLOCK CODE for your radio. My dealership offered to give it to me free over the phone, if I knew my radio serial number. Enter the code using the buttons on your radio. And write the code down, this will show up everytime your radio looses connection to its power source - the car battery.

Battery wasnt workng in my honda crv 2001....So when i replaced it...my radio wasnt working at all...it demanded a access code,wich i dont have...im just trying to obtain this code????

I have a 2001 Honda CR-V as well. I removed all the stock sound system from it and replaced everything. I noticed a serial number on the radio once you slide it out, and that can be brought to a nearby Honda dealership. There they can scan the serial number and give you the corresponding radio code, for free. Also, perhaps check in the glove box or manual for any stickers or text concerning the code.
