Question about Toshiba Satellite 15" Flat Panel LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Manual restart My Toshiba satellite 1410 is frozen and I want to know how to re-start it manually, or if there is something else I should do. It is on, and displaying that wonderful beach scene, but no programs appear. I left a floppy disk in it last night by mistake, and I didn't notice it hadn't shut down until this afternoon. I shut it down for a few hours, and when I turned it on tonight, it froze. My old Toshiba had a small opening you could stick a pencil in to restart, but this one doesn't.

I assume you have no mouse pointer.
Try pushing the Control/Alt/deletekeys all at once twice to see if that restarts it.
If not, push and hold the power button till it shuts down.
If it doesn't fully restart, then you may have to start it in safe mode. (this is ususlly done by tapping the F8 key as it is starting up)
Let me know how it goes.
Oh, Some of the reset button holes are only small enough for a small paperclip to go into. SO these are sometimes hard to find.

Jumper location for toshiba satellite L850

From memory, there is no jumper. Look for bare solder pads near the bios battery... usually marked 'RST' or 'FRST' or similar. There will be a few pairs of pads grouped, you only need to short out the RST ones (a pair) Its a bit of a juggling act, but short them out during the process of applying power to the laptop. so... short out, maintain the short, plug in power, power up laptop, maintaining short for about 3 seconds..... remove power, restart.

No sound after Win XP Sp3 upgrade

Hi there,

You need to download the sound drivers from the website of computer manufacturer and install it again if not try running Windows updates as even that will download and install it.

Hope this helps you to solve the issue. Please do vote or provide feedback on this solution as it will be appreciated.

Need to replace keyboard on my Toshiba Satellite 1410-s173. How do I gain access? Which screws should be removed and which should be left alone?

The plastic strip above the keyboard - you need to remove it (start by using a small, flat screwdriver and using the Windows key as leverage). After that, it's three screws (L, middle, R), then set it upside down over the touchpad, and disconnect the cable by lifting the connectors up.

That oughta do it!

If it ain't the WiFi Antenna on switch (right side, towards the front), then it's an incompatible WiFi card (assuming it's just been added to the system).

Toshiba satellite 1410

This is the REAL TIME CLOCK power supply inside your laptop. It maintains the system configuration and clock/calendar. Do not try to replace this yourself unless you are experienced, you could lose everything on the system and worse still these batteries can explode!! Connect the AC adaptor and let it charge for at least 24hrs. Press F2 to enter the bios. Set correct time and date If it Persists take it to a dealer to be replaced
