Lens Shows Out of Focus and Streaked Views

Two days ago my camera was fine (Nikon Coolpix 5700). Today I went to use it and when I look through the lens, everything is distorted, blurred and there are verticle green, magenta and yellow color streaks. This occurs whether the camera is off or on. What is the problem?

Coolpix L810 LCD will show pictures on the SD card taken on another camera fine but everything through the lens is very distorted. Can this be fixed-any user adjustments?

NIKON COOLPIX

The Camera displays lens error only when it's unable to retract or expand. This usually happens when the internal Hardware that controls the lens fails or any dust particle settles around the lens. In this case, just give slight bumps to the Camera against your palm. If the issue persists then service will be required.

Nikon coolpix 5700 shows no memory left after purchasing a new card & batteries

The largest CompactFlash card that Nikon approved for the 5700 is 256MB, which is what I'm using in my 5700. That's small by today's standards and you probably won't even find it in stores. I see some web sellers have 256MB cards for only $6 or so. Other commercial card sellers on the web claim that the 5700 will handle CF cards up to 1GB capacity. That's what I might try since online they're selling for as little as $8 plus shipping. Given that the 5700 was introduced in 2002, any cards bigger than 1GB probably won't work.

at the back of the camera next to the view finder (bottom right hand corner) is a button and icon marked SEL. pressing this button toggles the lens image from the view finder to the lcd screen and back again. IF neither view is available then I suspect your camera needs some TLC at a repair shop. hope this helps.

Overexposure

CoolPix 5700's have a common image sensor failure. Check with Nikon for recalls, this may be the cause of your issue. Alternatively the shutter may be stuck open, causing too much light to reach the sensor and causing over exposure as well as lines across the image. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

Nikon 5700 takes a blank picture

There was a line of defective Sony sensors that went into a lot of cameras between 2004 and 2005. As far as I know the 5700 was the primary victim in the Nikon line but Nikon is offering to repair or replace the affected cameras regardless of warranty status. http://www.nikonusa.com/email_images/nikonusa/service_advisory/coolpix.html Good luck
