Question about JVC HR-A57 VHS/S-VHS playback VCR
The remote for this VCR will not work all of a sudden. I cannot turn on the power. It will work to turn on/off the TV if I turn the TV button on on the VCR remote and hit power but it will not turn on the VCR.
It's not unusual for remote controls to stop functioning either partially or fully. To determine where the problem is, you will have to go through a process of elimination. The easiest way to find out where the problem lies is to purchase an inexpensive universal remote at a nearby store. Try the different codes and see if you can activate the VCR. If it works, you have the option of keeping the remote or returning it for another one if you cannot access all the functions of the VCR. I have seen exact replacements online for under $20.
If it does not work then the trouble is most likely in the VCR itself, unless the proper code could not be found in the universal remote, in which case you need to try another brand or model.
The only other suggestion I have for you would be to unplug the VCR from the AC power for at least 5 to 10 minutes and then plug it back in and try the original remote again.
I hope this helps, good luck.
