I turned off the machine, emptied out the water, put the tank back in and turned the machine on. Nothing happened accept the power light flashes. I unplugged it and let it sit overnight but still nothing happens
-   Same thing with me. I bought the unit. Ran over night. emptied out the bucket and ....the compressor would not turn back on. The fan does run however.
took it back and got a new one.
Plugged that one in and worked for one bucket. Then the compressor would not come back on.
I have a 30 yo dehumidifier that works fine in the same outlet.-   Guest

All dehumidifiers have an interlock to prevent them from running when the tank is out. This is to avoid a mess with not tank for the water to collect in. I would say that your interlock switch is in a position which is telling the machine that there is no tank in the unit. Take the tank back out and look into the space with a flashlight to find the switch. It could be on the bottom or the top. Your operation manual might be helpful in locating the switch. Once you find the switch check it for operation. It should move or depress when the tank is put in. It probably is jammed and you will have to determine whether it can be fixed or you may need to replace it. If it moves freely then it is probably defective and will need to be replaced. Good luck.

I purchased a Danby dehumidifier lastyear and it worked great for a while. Now after I empied the water the machine will keep running all night but there is no water in the tank. Am I missing something. Do I need to get it repaired?

Red button inside the unit I had to put tape on it to hold it down in order for the unit to run. Runs like 4 or 5 min. then cuts off. Over and over.
I have a 45 Pint Dehumidifier, Has worked very well for quite a while, now, after emptying the tank, it won't start up. Fan comes on and then shuts off as if full. Sometimes if you remove and replace the tank, several times , it may stay on. not sure if it is a bad sensor, or switch. Once it is running it will shut off when full. Filters are clean.
