Question about JVC AV-36890 36" TV

Screen goes blue and returns if cable cord moved

I have replaced the tuner with a JVC part. Picture and sound are great then suddenly goes blue and squeals. If the cable line is moved/wiggled, the picture and sounds will return to normal. All the cable line has been replaced as well. Had a in home repairman tell me it was the tuner....but of course, it did not fix it.
Your help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

FYI...TV has had a direct connection to cable as well as a DVD player connected. The above issues still occurs.

There is no cable box in the line. I am assuming the tuner card is different than the tuner itself. If so, where is the best place to find the part number for ordering? Thanks!

Thank you for the info. I have a friend who can repair it as long as I have the correct part. Would this be called the Electronic tuner part CEEK280-A01? I have replaced CEEK280-A02 (Tuner).

Hi,

Offhand, I suspect that no replacement part would be needed. Initially, the blue display is significant, it tells us that there is no "intelligent" signal to be processed by the video board and therefore goes into "video mute" mode. Your other post "squeals" + cable line moved/wiggled = picture & sound normal but all cable line replaced could possibly indicate that the connectors/jack might be the issue or the board itself. Pls have the reverse of the PCBs (boards checked for loose or cold solder). Additionally, it might also help to verify that the boards are not loose or overly tightened causing bottom grounding, flexing or warping.

Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

if it works fine then the cable box is causing the issue.
    else
it is the tuner card inside the Tv.

The lightning probably zapped the tuner in you set. If no signal is present the screen is muted (BLUE).This is a feature to prevent your seeing snow on the screen. Stargazer

No Picture

As long as you can hook that same cable up to a different TV and get a good picture, you must have somehow damaged the tuner on the APEX - unless the set was mishandled while moving. Those cheaper brands won't take much punishment.

Delay with channel surfing

Two things I would check before contacting JVC. In the on screen menu does it have a setting under tuner controls to disable AFC? It sounds like the tuner is seeking the proper channel frequency before it locks it in and displays a picture. If there is no such setting, then I would try a channel autoprogram in the cable mode. I'm assuming you have no cable or satellite TV box hooked up to the set. JVC is usually a pretty good brand name.
