How do I recover or repair bootini and bootsect for Windows XP Professional after uninstalling Windows 7 Ultimate?

It's good that you have the recovery cds. Do NOT reformat the hard drive. Restore with the cds so you'll have a clean install . You will need to have any software cds that did not come with the original pc in order for them to rebuild the registry entries. That is the easiest way because there won't be any left over files from Windows 7 after you restore to XP.

Hi, is your computer a Dell? If so, it should have a recovery partition. A recovery partition is just an area on the hard drive that came with the Dell computer in case you need to restore your computer to factory settings if it won't start up.

If there is no recovery partition, you should be able to buy a Dell Recovery CD.

This is how to access the Dell Recovery Partition:
http://www.tweaksforgeeks.com/tips/2009/01/how-do-you-access-dells-recovery-partition

Use of this advice is at your own risk. I can not be held responsible if there is any damage to your computer (shouldn't be, since your computer is already showing blue screen errors.)

Hope this helps and have a nice day!

My inspiron 1018 won't boot. i need to reinstall or repair my software. it does not have a cd drive. please advice action.

The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 series of netbooks come with recovery software that can restore your netbook's original factory settings. Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbooks with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 can be recovered to the factory settings using a recovery partition on the hard drive.
Windows Vista or 7
Turn on or restart your Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook. Press the "F8" key repeatedly when the "Dell" logo appears on the screen to be redirected to the "Advanced Boot Options" menu.
Highlight "Repair Your Computer," and then press "Enter."
Highlight the language layout you want to use for your keyboard and click "Next." Enter your username and password if prompted. Click "OK."
Click "Dell Factory Image Restore," and then click "Next." The recovery software on some Dell Mini systems may require you to click "Dell Factory Tools" followed by "Dell Factory Image Restore" and "Next."
Click "Next" if you understand the netbook will be restored to its original factory settings. The recovery process will begin.
Click "Finish" when a message appears saying the recovery is complete. The netbook will restart and boot up to the Windows Vista or Windows 7 set-up screen, where you can begin personalizing your netbook.

Windows XP Recovery
Turn on the computer. Press the "Ctrl" and "F11" keys at the same time while the computer is booting up to access the recovery software.
Click "Restore."
Click "Confirm" to begin the recovery process, which shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes.
Click "Finish" to restart the computer and finalize the installation. Click "Yes" to restart the netbook again. The computer will boot up to the Windows XP setup screen

Here is a link which will take you to the site which will allow you to download a ZIP file with a WEB PAGE type service manual for your 1018, after a 45 second wait. (They want you to sign up for premium service but NOT NEEDED) Click again after wait?
After download, open the ZIP file and copy all contents to a new folder. Double click the Contents.html file to open in a web browser, then use the built in shortcuts to navigate the manual.

XP shuts down on start up and it goes back to the boot-up screen. However, chosing the safe mode (or any other mode)results in the same problem. I noticed that the screen very briefly goes blue just...

I would try Last Known Good Configuration ... available from the same menu as your Safe Mode (or hit F8 before Windows screen displays). If that doesn't work, then you should boot to your XP CD and attempt to repair it using Recovery Console. Boot to the CD as if to install it, but when asked if you want to repair using Recovery Console, then hit 'R'. First, run CHKDSK /R twice. If this OS came pre-installed on your system, it may have a PC Restore partition. You can use that to reinstall, if needed ... but it will erase all your user data, restoring the PC to the exact same condition as when you opened it. If you do not have this PC Restore option, then you can also run FIXBOOT in Recovery Console to attempt to repair it.

Hi, I have lost the recovery cd for my dell inspiron 710 m

You can attempt to recover the system using the built-in recovery partition (if your system has one). Shut down the computer completely, and restart it with the power button. When the Dell logo appears, try pressing Ctrl-F11 or Alt-F11 at this screen, and if your system has the recovery partition, it should boot to it, and give you instructions on how to restore your system using this method. If this does not work, however, you can request Dell to send you replacement recovery disks for your model of computer by going *here* Just keep in mind Dell may charge for the disks, so if you do need to order them, be prepared to pay a minor fee, by using a credit card on their secured website. (Usually $20-40 USD)

Whatever the circumstances, be forewarned that restoring your system with either of these methods will erase the contents of your hard drive, so be sure to back up your important files that you cannot afford to lose *BEFORE* doing the restore, as you will not be able to get them back without advanced data recovery services, which can get extremely expensive.

    Computer does'nt start

This is usually caused by a registry file that grew too large. Your best bet, assuming that you don't have the WIndows disk because it is a Dell, or another PC type that has the hidden recovery partition, is to run your system's recovery and do a non-destructive recovery that will attempt to repair the OS without damaging your files.
Beyond that, you are going to need the Windows XP CD to access the recovery console, and that have worked for somany people having similar problem.when you load the restore cd Insert the Windows XP startup disk into the floppy disk drive, or insert
the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer.
Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the
CD-ROM drive if you are prompted to do so.
    2. When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery
    Console. ...
this will restore the missing files in the system registry.hope this helps thanks and God bless
