Car DVD player won't read DVDs

Well if like me you have tried taking it to a repair shop, you know that no one will touch it. These are unreliable cheap units, the screens are great just the DVD players keep going wrong. Give up and plug a portable media player into the input, all the films on a hard drive - no jumping - stopping etc etc

I changed the motor but still the same fail.

I had the same problems as well. I ended up taking it to a local shop here in the SF Bay Area and got it fixed instantly. It didn't cost much but got it done. I wouldn't tamper with it though esp. with alcohol as it may damage the laser and set the laser out of alignment to cause more costly repairs.

I had the same problem. I took the bottom off and was looking at the parts inside it. What I found with mine was that the gears were not turning smoothly. I realized it was something between the gear on the motor (white) and the middle gear. All I had to do was to push the white gear that is on the motor back down until it snapped back into place. Problem solved. I hope this helps others with the same problem.

It sounds as if an urgent discectomy is in order and take it along to your friendly car audio/video doctor for a second opinion. Cd and CVD players have a shockin record for lasting much ;pnger than the warranty.

sounds to me like your laser reader isn't set for a dvd reader... if it will read cd's then its working, unless your putting the wrong type of formatted dvd in the player...

Delphi is TERRIBLE w support. I had to hit the reset button, then it worked

Select "Car Entertainment" then "Mobile DVD Systems" and finally select "PVS1950D".

You can either email or call them for assistance. The repair fee is about $50 I believe, plus shipping. A brand new unit with 7" screens will run you about $100.

Make sure use brand new Disc to test unit. still have problem? send back mfg to service.

All of the 8" and 10" Delphi DVD entertainment systems are absolute JUNK. I have been installing mobile video for 15 years now and have never come across a DVD player with so many problems. Not only do the systems suck but so does Delphi service. I now have 6 systems under warranty repair at their facility. This is the second batch that I have sent them. The first batch of 10 I sent them took over 8 weeks for repair. I have also personally repaired at least 10 other units by swapping parts between broken units. Many of the DVD systems require a new ribbon cable that goes to the screen. Yet Delphi will not sell these. If anyone has info on where to purchase these ribbon cables. Its a little late but here ya go. If you hav ealready cleaned th eoptical pickup ( " laser" ) then its dead. I woudl love to buy that for parts. I fix up dead clarion dvd players. Le tme know if you still have it! mike bigmikeselectronic@comcast.net
