Try unplugging unit from electrical suppl, leave unplug for the overnight, its possible that the electrode has gotten wet from watrer or grease and will dry out and stop sparking. give it a try before setting a service call.

Can't turn on the elements

With gas units there is a safety position on the knobs that stop children from turning them . Push the knob in and turn at the same time. The pizza will start sparking and the gas will light . For stronger flame turn the knob up. Remember gas cooks hotter than electricity so keep an eye on the setting for a while.

How do i re ignite the pilot light

Hi

The surface on this range have standing pilots that must be lit initially. To light them:
1. Be sure the surface burner control knobs are in the "OFF" position.
2. Remove the grates and cook top.
3. Locate the pilot ports and light each of them with a match. Replace the cook top and grates.

Light the oven burner pilot in the following manner:
1. Be sure the oven control knob is in the "OFF" position.
2. Remove the broiler carriage.
3. Hold a lighted match at the top forward section of the pilot (See diagram). No adjustment is required.
4. Replace the broiler carriage.
Hope this helps...

Gas range won't ignite. We had PGE and come over

This sounds like a failed burner igniter, also called a spark module. These are pretty easy to replace since the module itself is located at the back of the stove under an access panel. The price is around 40 to 60 dollars. Lately it seems that these newer stoves have weaker spark modules. I see dead modules on models less than 2 years old, where it used to be more like 5 or more years on the older ones.

Pilot on GE stove keeps popping non-stop

As far a "popping" do you mean the igniter on the cook top "clicking"? Did you clean the range and use too much water? If water gets into the igniter switches they will short out and constantly click. Also if the polarity at the electrical plug you can get what is called "ghost spark" so make sure that the polarity is correct at the electrical outlet. Each gas control valve has a switch that turns on the igniter when the knob is in a certain position and they are all wired in a sequence. One of those switches may be shorted out or have a loose wire(range dis-assembly required to inspect). Do you visually see a spark at the electrodes of the burners or do the burners ignite? If you cannot see the spark then there may be a grounding issue and possible loose wire.

One of my gas burners won't start

Only 2 potential culprits in this case.

The Control Valve (behind the control knob) is bad... or the gas outlet on top of the stove is clogged with food :D

Take it apart and give it a good cleaning or replace.

3 of the 4 burners are continously sparking while turned off.

on the knobs one of the switches are bad.. you would have to remove the metal panel that is over it. they usually come as a complete harness.. as for the 4th one that is not sparking you have a bad electrode.. (the thing that does the sparking..

Igniter keeps sparking when it is shut off

Remove each of the burner caps from the cook top and wash in warm soapy water, using a plastic scrub brush to clean any grease or film from all surfaces.

So the same with the burner seat and ignitor knob on the cooktop.

The ignitor keeps striking because it cannot sense there is a flame.

Gas stove top not lighting - gas is on/electic to appliance is ok

Is it a (relatively) new stove - i.e. piezoelectric spark igniters?

If so, is there a "lite" or "pilot" (or some such) position on the knob? On most stoves you have to turn the knob to that position, it starts clicking, you may smell a little gas, and then it lights.

Is that happening?

When you turn it to the lite position, can you see a little spark in burner. Often these igniters stop working and need to be replaced.

Let me know.
