Question about JVC AV-32F803 32" TV

Red lines, Red screen, tried previous fixes

This tv has the red lines, red screen, shuts off with blinking led. I replaced the 100mf 160v cap and resoldered the wire wound resistor. The only thing that changed was the tv stays on and can now be turned on and off without unplugging it. Any help would be appreciated. Mark.

Re: Red lines, Red screen, tried previous fixes

I would look for an open resistor in the red drive circuit on the CRT board. Check all the components in the red circuit and replace any which are not within tolerance. The resistor could be from a 1 ohm to 10 ohm depending on the model. If you find no bad parts then check for cracked solder connections on the board and resolder. If this does not work you will need a scope to look at the signal going to the red drive transistor and make sure that it is correct. Anything beyond this will require a repair shop. Remember TV safety. Good luck.

Check power supply to see if its working, check across main cap, Do not use chassis ground for 160v. If good, check for 130v on the collector of the horizontal output transistor, if missing voltage, check for either an open low value resistor in the power supply or an open pekoe fuse or a bad voltage reg ic.

Tv won't stay on it shuts off as soon as I turn it on and now there is a blinking light on the front and it's blinking 7 times

Most Sony's usually always have bad regulator ics. Depending on your model, could be a mcz3001 or str ic or mxoa ic. Check for 160v across the main capacitor for 160v to see if your power supply is working. Do not use chassis ground. Use the ground on the cap.

I have an old Grundig tv model t55540-ft. Yhere sees to be a problem with the power button. For the tv to work you must manually hold in the button

Old tvs have old caps and bad grounds. You must take the board out and inspect visually first and then check all caps..I would look for 160volt ti 250volt caps at 1mf to 4.7mf and maybe 10mf caps. Another cap would be the horizontal cap. About 160v to 200v 100mf cap. Replacing these will speed up on time. And remember to resolder all bad grounds especially those on heatsinks. You have to use a leaf blower after pulling the back cover to dust the board before removal.

Toshiba just will not turn on.

Have someone extract the board for you. Replace all high voltage caps [3 or 4]. The voltages are 160v and 250v, with microfarads of 1mf , 2.2mf or 4.7mf. If the cap temp is 85 degrees, replace with 105degrees. I believe this tv would be 8 or 10 years old. Therefore inspect every solder connection for a good ground. You must pay attention and look for these. Be patient and take your time, if you don't see a bad ground or specified electrolytic cap today, you will find it tommorrow. One more cap to check is the 200v 100mf. Yes all of the above are electrolytic caps. This weekend ad this to your honey do's!

TV does not turn on. Stand By LED blinks 4 times and pauses and blinks 4 times again Tv will not turn on...when plugged in the red stand by light flashes 4 can hear the tv turn on but a black...

On older Sony, sometimes a power surge causes the set to be in shut down mode. Try unplugging for 5 minutes and then plug in and try. This many times will fix.

Vert deflection problem

You are correct about having a dry or leaky capacitor that is causing those lines to show on the top of the screen.
Check the caps with low capacitance like 1uf, 10uf, 47uf, etc.
No quicker fix for this one until you change the capacitors.
Hope this helps.

Red lines across screen

wow this set has several problems that cause almost the same symtoms. There is a b+ filter cap off the flyback that supplys screen drive voltage th the crt that gets leaky and gets warm when the sets on. Also theres a resistor that feeds the voltage that gets warm and a cold solder connection appears but its dosent look like a bad solder connection so just resolder it. as a matter of fact most of those largewr resistors in this set causes all sorts of complaints soI resolder most of them just to stop any problems and a friend in the tv business still told me in one case he had an intermittant crt. and x ray protection cuircut problems.. Hope this helps GOOD LUCK
